Post some of your favorite guitar or bass solos...

My all time favorite, as most of you all know, is the 2nd solo in Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd.

David plays a whole bunch of other good ones as well. As a matter of fact, they're all good.

The solo in Have a Cigar is another that sticks out as well.

Another one of my favorites is in Achilles Last Stand by Led Zeppelin.

the last like, 3 minutes of the besnard lake's "and you lied to me" is pretty awesome.

I hate to sound "generic" but I don't give a shit. My favorite solo ever is the solo in "We Will Rock You". Not necessarily because of it's difficulty because it's really not all that hard of a solo to play, but as a guitar player I can easily say that Brian May's guitar tone in that solo, is fucking amazing. Such a sick riff!

The opening two minutes and twelve seconds of Dream Theater's "This Dying Soul."

The end of Children of Bodom's "Black Widow."

Steve Ouimette's "The Devil Went Down To Georgia." All the parts without vocals.

If it counts, the first three and a half minutes or so of Isis's "Altered Course." Not really fast or anything, but it's laid back in a way that makes it shimmer. Beautiful.

The bridge of In Flames's "Coerced Coexistence."

The bridge of Shadows Fall's "Stillness."

Blackbird by Alter Bridge

I know I'm gonna get all kinds of shit for even mentioning Alter Bridge on this site but it's well worth it if I can get even one person to listen to how talented Alter Bridge truly is.

I strongly suggest you check out their song Blackbird off their latest album. It's an 8 minute epic that has some great guitar work all the way through from both lead guitar player Mark Tremonti and lead singer/guitar player Myles Kennedy. Great modern day rock n' roll song. Truly.

dig this: nothing beats a Dragonforce solo, or some of those old Black Sabbath Tony Iommi solos. Also, the solo to "Aces High" by Iron Maiden causes me to rock hard akwardly in public.

Okay... let me explain.. to me there are two types of solos, absolutely amazing technical solos with fingers flying and strings burning.. and smooth solos that just make you say ...wow, that sounds great.

Black Magic Woman makes me say ...wow everytime I listen to it.

But hey, that's just my opinion..

What are some of your fav solos?

I address a few of them in my first post.

Solo #2 of Comfortably Numbbeing my favorite of all time. Which isn't really fast. It may be technical, but it's slow and melodic, and it flows really nicely.

Also, it's not very complex at all, but 'Tired of Sex' by Weezer has a pretty nifty little one.

But for rock, I'd say Van Halen's Ice Cream Man.

i have too short of an attention span and dont care much very technical guitar playing

soooooooooooooo i'm not saying they are the greatest of all time but they are my favorite, i am not saying these two solos are better than anything by led zep for floyd or any of that, ok?

that being said MY two favorites are "Limousine" by Brand New, and "Tomorrow Too Late" by Saves The Day

i highly disagree.
if you can get past the fact that he played for Creed and Alter Bridge (which is a crime on this site), you will see that Mark Tremonti is a fantastic guitarist.
but hey, he plays for Alter Bridge, so hes OBVIOUSLY horrible.

Stevie Ray Vaughan has to be my favorite guitarist, his cover of Voodoo Child is phenomenal.
