So, my works christmas party last night. There was enough drinking for karaoke to take place. Me and the guy I work with along with two other employees boyfriends sang Bohemian Rhapsody. Trying to hit those high parts was goofy as hell.

one of the most successful, influential & popular bands ever & probably the only "arena rock" or "rock opera" type band to matter, these guys were definitely one of a kind. i adore the vocals (although i don't personally hail freddie as "the greatest singer ever") & vocal harmonies. but the guitar work on many of the albums is also pretty awesome
lucky sods whoever attended their live aid performance in '85 too (often hailed as the greatest live gig of all-time)
TheOtherAndrew
12/13/07, 04:47 PM
I have that Live Aid gig on DVD. Its ace, you should buy it if you don't have it already Craig.

unfortunately i don't own it myself, but a mate of mine (who's a huge queen fan) does so i've been lucky enough to see it a few times. just so good. more than anything it makes you wish you were there haha

I would like to formally apologize to this band for rarely listening to any of their albums besides A Night at the Opera.
I would also like to formally suck this band's cock for writing and releasing A Night at the Opera.

I still can't grasp how they created two of the biggest sports songs of all time. They had no idea....
queen is the shit! their greatest hits album was my fav when i was a lil tacker! dont stop me now, bohemien rhapsody, bicycle, fat bottom girls, someone to love, flash. so many great songs.
We all know that Queen is making a dramatic return to the spotlight (http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/24012599/queen_reign_supreme_once_again), but how about the new singer Paul Rodgers. Do you think he successfully inhabits Freddie and also being creative enough? Which song do you think is the best in Queen's new album - The Cosmos Rocks?
TheOtherAndrew

okay, so I'm finally giving the Cosmo's Rocks a listen on myspace, and of course it doesn't sound like "Queen" I mean its Paul Rogers singing, and its more bluesy on some songs, which the absence of that is what really set them apart from other classic rock bands. But, for what it is I wouldnt say its horrible, I would never buy this album, but honestly Queen's 80's-early90's stuff to me isn't nearly as personal (to me) as their first 7 albums. Musically it at least kinda picks up where they left off with Innuendo and Made in Heaven, while adopting some U2 and Coldplay-ish stuff along the way. Sure its not great, but my hats off for them trying to do somthing new.

As much as I like Queen, I just can't think of much to say, or discuss. ...other than "I enjoy Queen. Freddie Mercury was a great vocalist. Brian May has excellent tone/skills" etc.

Queen, perhaps one of the greatest bands of all time. They paved the way for a lot of artists today. Everytime I listen to Queen I find something new about them that I like. They are deifinitely in my top 5 favorite bands.

Freddy Mercury was too cool.
Makes me laugh how people are talking about that Adam Lambert kid's stage prescence...if they think he's mildly impressive they haven't seen Freddie Mercury in action.
