i know they have special speakers for keyboards and mics but it'd be cool if you guys could link me to some examples of what equipment i'll want to buy before setting up a show.

Are you setting up a show on your own or are you playing at some venue? Generally they'll have the PA set up for vocals. You'll probably want some sort of keyboard amp though, although you may be able to go right through the PA with that as well. I'm not too sure when it comes to keyboards.

If you are using your own PA system, just plug the line/mic out of the keyboard into the line/mic in of the PA system and it will play through that. or buy something like this (http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Crate-KXB50-50W-Keyboard-Amp?sku=487832)

and use the PA system for whatever vocals you may have

if you are playing a venue, they will likely take the instrument out and put it into a DI box and connect to the PA system if you dont have an amp.

if you're throwing the show yourself but not actually playing, then just rent a decent pa, don't buy anything.
