Before everybody goes crazy, the title is not in relation to the board title. This post is just the only place where it fits.

Now, just so you know, I am a big fan of pop-punk, emo-punk, and everything punk, but hear me out here.

Coheed and Cambria. I love their music, I love their lyrics, and I love this band. But I have to say something about the singing. The vocals don't go with the music like they could.

Personally, I don't like his voice.

Yes, I know it's a guy.

see...for me,personally...the voice is what defines coheed and cambria.

take away claudio's voice and what do you have? generic riffs, at best, with some different lyrics...not much more.

the lyric content is different and a generic voice just wouldnt seem fitting.

coheed is to me what brand new is to some people.. everyone loves them, but i just don't see what the big deal is..

Wow, that was the last thing I thought I would hear about them, Claudio is one of the few singers in the music Industry that actually can sing. In ym opinion the list is so small, Chino-deftones, Daryl-gj, Geoff-thursday, and the saves the day singer. Most other singers just sing without range, and emotion. Disagree if you like.

see i really like coheed a whole lot but i am not all that big on brand new i just prefer to not listen to them at all

i dont really know what the big deal about coheed is either?
i mean theyre okay but the claudios voice starts to annoy me after a while, but thats just me and i dont have the new cd so this is coming straight from the old cd

i think claudio's voice can get annoying after a while, but i more or less enjoy the lyrics and compisitioin. very few bands can do what coheed does.

see now its the exact opposite for me. I bought their first cd when it first came out on impulse not even heard anything they did. I took it home listened to it once and put it away for a few months then brought it back out. The more I listen to him the more I love his voice. C&C is now one of my favorite bands.

Caludio's vocals are what defines Coheed as a band... Like the backbone... He's penomenal...Coheed is phenomenal..If you havent already, get "In Keeping Secrets Of Silent Earth: 3" and listen to it in its entirety.. I guarantee you will at least walk away with a different perspective on them as a whole...

Personally, I've adored Coheed since the beginning... They are definitley an aquired taste and I can see how some of you may not be into it, but they are truthfully one of the most talented and diverse bands I've seen come along in a while...

dude, there are so many singers in the industry that can kick the shit out of them in singing. im not saying there voices arent good (apart from std, i hate that voice)

brandon boyd - incubus
jim adkins - jimmy eat world
billie joe armstrong - green day (like it or not, this dude learnt how to sing pretty damn well as the years went on...listen to him live, its spot on)
dustin kensrue - thrice, he can sing really really well.

they are all in my opinion better then geoff, chino and chris...i havnt heard enough glassjaw to judge on that. Geoff chino and chris are all alright at what they do, but they are no where near as to be actual "good singers" in comparison the whole music industry.

Claudio sings both high and low? Wow, I never knew that. That's what I call depth.

All I've heard is Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth 3 and his voice is mostly high in it. And the more I listen to the music I start liking it more and more, and have realized that Claudio's voice is what defines Co and Ca. I still think it's unfitting for the music. Maybe not.

I hated Coheed when I first got "In Keeping Secrets..." but after listening to them for a while (and giving them some playing time by request only), they've really started to grow on me. I think that some of the songs on that CD are pretty worthless, but I'm a big fan of "A Favor House Atlantic," "The Crowing," and "Blood Red Summer," among others.

I dunno why that guy said Chino can sing....he whispers through most of the songs, then screams, then wispers. Chris from Saves the Day is a pretty good singer. Dustin Kensrue however is not...that guy hasn't sung anything that has impressed me. Jesus christ some peoples judgement on here is seriously messed up......................
and Nick Hexum........when does he ever actually sing. I mean he's good at what he does, but I wouldn't call it singing.

I'm a singer.....I know these things. It's what I do.

I'm a singer, so I respect that this guy can sing this high. But to listen to everything else at the same time? I'm not quite sure why you continue to insist you like "punk" and feel one band is "pop-punk" while another isn't etc. I'm not sure if you've had the oppurtunity to see C&C live, but they are a rock band, nothing more. You don't have to like the music but how can you ask why someone does or what the big deal is? People like em, it's music, tastes differ.
