im just going to guesstimate this but i think its about 45-50% of the population of my high school own the same good charlotte sweatshirt, that they wear everyday. and almost all of them went to the mest/ good charlotte/ something corporate concert, because everyone cries to konstantine, on the couch with theyre best galpals, with the biggest thing of ice cream they could find, oblivious to the fact something corporate came out with a month or two ago...

I can't believe someone said benji madden is hot. Benjie madden is one of the ugliest mother fuckers i've ever seen in my life. The only reason I like good charlotte is because, everyonce in a while they sound like the cars and the police. (both of those bands kick ass)

so sorry but i used to like good charlotte a lot until i started to think that they were a bunch of posers, their album "the young and the hopeless" really shows it too. i couldnt sit down and listen to them now but i remember when i could....

people bash good charlotte becuase they think its cool. I like such a wide variety of bands and I happen to love good charlotte. If you confine yourself to one type of music and dont listen to anything becuase its played on mtv and is popular...your very close minded and are missing out on some really genuine music. Good charlotte rocks and I see no more need to defend them becuase they have huge fan base and if your a hater....you need to get out more.

takingbackrufio
12/31/03, 03:21 PM
Some people actually don't like their music, like me. First time I'd ever heard 'Lifestyles' I said 'I don't like this song,' because I didn't like it, not because they were popular. I love Blink 182, who is mainstream, so therefore you can't say that some people just hate Good Charlotte to be cool scenesters.

man this thread is makin me have to pee.

Yes. Well. Okay.

It's not really GC so much that I hate. It's the people in my school who like GC. And I'm not stereotyping GC fans, but the people in my school seem to like to label people. Not even complex labels such as bandgeek/punk/goth/smart kid(to quote Liv speaking about Alicia). They seem obsessed with the three "P"s. Punk, poser, prep. And that annoys me. But I have nothing against the band itself. I just don't like it. It isn't my "thaaaang". And, uh, yeah. I'm done now.

Don't kill me.

Man, threads like this just show how many assholes are on these boards. If they decided to ban the pricks that are complete douche bags towards one another more than half of us would be banned. I don't get it, who the hell cares if they type with simley faces, it really isn't a big deal. I guess it is a little redundant to bring up the entire G.C. thing, but whatever, just stay out of it then. You don't have to be a dick head about it.

I kind of agree. But if you like good music and are well rounded I find it hard for you too like Good Charlotte if you catch what I'm saying. I don't know, I don't care that they are popular - I just find them annoying and to cliche when they write their songs. Same with Simple Plan, they just have really really boring lyrics and music. It's stuff a little kid could easily write and this is what makes me wonder how these guys are making so much money. I guess it's because "punk" music is becoming the big trendy thing to like now. It will die off soon, I can't wait to rap metal comes up again.

other people...who think shopping in the "punk" section of JCPenny and then obsessing over the new Britney Spears video should also be shot in the face multiple times.
What about people who don't obsess about the new Britney Spears video and think shopping in "punk" section of JCPenny?

Emotionless

if people walk around self proclaiming they're punk because they've listened to one good charlotte song...then yes they deserve to be shot in the face multiple times. other people...who think shopping in the "punk" section of JCPenny and then obsessing over the new Britney Spears video should also be shot in the face multiple times. People who listen to GC and are well rounded in their band choices are okay...me no likes GC just because they sound too much like pop.True to a point. Is not the whole I idea of punk to be anti-conformity? So then little Amigone, If being punk is we all listen to the same music, and hate GC, and all dress the same way; are we any better than all those teenie bopers? So in theory anyone can be punk, and they don't even have to like our music, or the way we dress. They just have to be different from the people arond them.

i get why alot people dont like gc...i like them a whole lot but the thing I think people hate are the losers who represent them and have no clue who they are, what they have done, and what they had to do to get there. People say GC is punk, but the truth is they are punk-pop.....there is a HUGE diffrence. GC is my role model, and i used to get pissed off at people who dissed them, but now I realize WHY everyone hates them. These TRL motherfuckers buy the clothes and labels without ever digging the music or the people. They request the songs so they get overplayed and totaly dry em out. if they had started as a small band that slowly got reconnition through a 5-6 years, more would like em...they sprung up from "Young& The Hopeless" in a year, because of all the stupid retards who have no clue what the hell their listen too, and thinkin their the best thing, because they were at the moment.

Do me a favour though..... try to understand those of us who look to the GC songs "Hold On", and "Movin' On" for encouragement for the day, and bash those who listen to "Life Styles Of The Rich And Famous" and buy a hundred shirts because of that song. GC wanted a message to go out and the message thats being given isnt the one they wanted, but shit, their millionaires, so they aren't complaining. ;)

oh yeah, if they dont careabout their image why do I????? Well because they saved my sanity. they kept me going. :D

I'm not a big slipknot fan myself....But I do like Mest, GC, and a little MXPX....Yes everyone is now obsessed with GC cause they are on TRL, its just gotten old and it has gone over the top...and I am not one of the people to go around claiming the pop punk to be hardcore, I just like some of the music....but then again I like almost everything.

It seem's like most people jump on the 'I hate Good Charlotte' bandwaggon these days. Then the people who DO actually like them are teh youn un's. thinking about it though, most kid's are like that at that age. Y'know, getting into the mainstream commerical shite. I still remember singing my ass off to The Spice Girl's and crap like that when it was mainstream. Most kid's go thru that stage.... And the OMgzzzz BennnJi Is SoOOooOoo hottt!111!11 <333 stage. Most people are gonna grow outta it, then a new mainstream 'fad' is gonna come along, and all the people who think bands like Good Charlotte suck will just get annoyed again. C'est la vie. I myself don't like Good Charlotte, I didn't even like them before they became mainstream, not because I think they're shit, because i don't enjoy the music; But I won't say they suck, I just don't appreiciate them like i appreiciate other bands.

You think that's bad...for some odd reason the voice of bob barker from the price is right is always in my head saying in his signature voice, "and the answer is ___" i think i have issues.

Not a big fan of Good Charlotte but i have personal reasons. Back a couple of years ago, when gc was playing, i went to go see them (please Ap users, don't hit me with your GC-hating stones) and was trampled over. And in the process, lost my damn shoes. Like 10+ girls were taken out on stretchers from the whole incident and GC never said a damn thing to calm the shit going on in the crowd even though every other band mentioned something about it. Plus I had to walk around for 4 hours without any damn shoes on 100+ degree pavement. It sucked.

I'm not a huge fan right now, although I have to admit I used to be around '01-'02...till they became really big. not because them becoming so mainstream put me off (ok that a little too but not really...meh), but because I just got tired of their songs, ya know? and I love so many other bands, more than I could ever love GC... so yeah...just don't really remember to put their CD's on or something cause there's like a lot of other CD's that I want to listen to more than those GC CD's. but...sometimes when I'm in the mood, I'll put on their CD's and I'm really not ashamed to admit that. I'm not a fan but I'm not not a fan either (if that makes any sense). I think their music is pretty catchy so yeah like I said, if I'm in the mood, I'll listen to it, and I don't care about the whole "oh theyre not punk, and theyre sell outs" crap or whatever. I listen to music I enjoy, and I do enjoy their music at times. so yeah. :)

I don't think they are sell outs...they had nothing to, erm, sell out. I have nothing personaly wrong with them, the music just doesn't appeal to me. I will admit though, there is one song of theirs that really gets to me. It's exactly like what happened to me, so it just kind of hits me.

well because in the "punk world" if you go on MTV, then you're a sell out. but yeah the person above me is right, they may have become mtv's byotches but they never claimed to be punk in the first place so yeah can't say theyre exactly sell outs. although if to some people "sell out" means doing exactly what you've been like...singing against of... like you know the song Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous.. well, GC bitch in that song about rich, famous people etc...right?....well look at them now....they could like basically sing that song for themselves and it would fit. but anyway yeah I guess that can actually make them sell outs........ never really thought about it till now. but oh well I don't really care.

lol I hope this makes sense.

Bah, stop being spoonfed your opinions people. I read in an interview a while ago that the members of Good Charlotte all have different influences. Billy loves some heavier stuff (Silverchair I think is his favorite band). Joel is into stuff like Depeche Mode and The Cure. Benji is into more of the "punk" thing bands like The Clash, Ramones, Rancid, etc. They have stated a million times that they're more of a rock band, still millions and millions kids sit online and bitch about them. I love it when someone with a Starting Line t-shirt tells me GC sucks (as if those two bands aren't similar at all). Whoever said that more people would like GC if they weren't as popular was dead on. This is the second time around I've seen this happen. I remembe back in 94-95 when all the "punks" were hating on Green Day and now-a-days, kids 16-17 "love" Green Day. It's just another cycle so don't get caught up in it and jump on the bandwagon to try to stay "cool with the scene." What you don't realize is, a few years go by, you grow up, and "scenes" just don't mean anything anymore.

lol hey now..... I like Mest. But I'm not a big fan of Good Charlotte. I think Mest are better. yeah Mest's songs may sound the same or whatever.... but their music is fun when you're in the mood for it.

it's hard to take a band seriously when their best song is call "what's the dillio?"

read what I said above...... their songs can be fun when you're in the mood for them. and I never take any band too seriously. I mean music is just music.... and well yeah.... whats the point in taking it too seriously when you can just enjoy listening to it??

It's funny to see the replies, knowing how peoples musical tastes around here have shifted. These bands aren't even relevant on the boards anymore.
