Not too exciting but it's something. This was my favorite book so I hope they do a good job with it. I love when the films come out during the November/December months as well. Just a good fit for them I think.

Daniel looks hot, too bad I think he's gay.
Anyways, I hear that their debating on whether or not to put in Scrimgeour. Which is a little upsetting, especially for the 7th film/book.
I hope they don't fuck this one up. They brought back the writer from 1-4, and he always turns things around. The writer for movie 5 knew what was important, and was spot on with everything.

The only movie I liked was the 5th one. The 3rd was a huge letdown for me since it's my favorite book. Sure it was good from a cinematic standpoint, but they butchered the story line, IMO. The 5th one is the only one where they nailed it.

drudo182

I think it was well adapted myself. I thought book five was one of the weaker novels. For a movie, it everything that was necessary to continue the story was included and you got a complete film.

To me everything felt so rushed and choppy. But that's just me. I just think that they could of added little things that were in the book since it was the shortest movie made. I dont know, maybe I need to watch it again or something.
I guess I see it as more underdeveloped than the other movies when it comes to the adaptation of it.

I don't care much about this movie...
But the beginning of the next movie is going to be outrageous. Just reading the book gave me the chills once they left Harry's house. Not going into more detail on what happened but that whole time is crazy.
Really, however he ends this movie is going to have to lead into the next one. He did an okay job with the last movie, didn't blow me out of the water but meh. He needs to add a really creepy tone to this next movie in order to really show the 7th movie the way it was read. I don't think this movie has a great point to start off from, after that last one, but it should be able to pick up in the middle.

I remember reading a long time ago that the director was planning on having the tone of this movie to be a bit lighter (as opposed to the creepy tone you mentioned). His reasoning was that this is Harry's last year at Hogwarts before all the crazy shit (my phrasing) starts to happen, so it's the last chance for them to have a good time. Personally, I'd prefer a darker tone.

I don't see what else could be.
And I must disagree with you on your "loss of all respect" for Dumbledore comment; clearly you misinterpreted the characterization of him in that novel, or didn't take the proper meaning from JKR's portrayal of his past. Or, as a reader, do you lack the capability for forgiveness? It seems so. He is greatly flawed, but his repentance and atonement for his wrongs are what make him such an admirable leader and an inspiration to those around him.

Can't agree. I worked at a theatre over the summer and watched the movie at least 6 times in full not to mention larger parts of it numerous times a day for about a month. Hardly the best Potter movie, but it did not suck as the person I was responding to said.

OotP was my favorite book and I was disappointed with the movie, especially the MoM battle scene (or lack thereof, actually). I loved the tone and look of PoA - I thought it was well done overall. It's probably my second favorite book and I was a lot happier with that adaptation.
HBP is my least favorite book, so I don't really have high expectations for the movie. Anything will probably please me movie wise just because I'm definitely not as invested in this one as I have been in the past.

I'm just glad they're cutting up Deathly Hallows into two parts. If it was one movie, it would have either a) been five hours long (which I personally wouldn't mind but itd suck when I'd have to pee) or b) worse than Order of the Phoenix.
Leaving the theatre after the midnight showing for OOTP was easily the most dissapointing experience of 2007.
In thread related news- this better not be some chipper rendition. Rowling wrote this to be a dark book to transition to the end- if the director screws this one up (ESPECIALLY Sectumsempra) I'm ordering a hit.

I was impressed when I left the midnight showing and sad too because I had a catch a plane in 1 1/2 later. So I felt rushed haha
But I'm reeeeally looking forward to the Sectumsempra scene. When I read that part I started worrying whether or not it would be done correctly or done at all because of the blood. But then again, the 4th movie was pretty bloody when Wormtail resurrected Voldemort.

Eh, I guess, but too long movies wouldn't do it for me. They were originally thinking of doing 2 per starting with Goblet but Cuaron talked them out of it. Hands down he is my least favorite person to come into contact with the franchise. He ruined 3 for me (my favorite book too) and I always felt his ego was just too big for this project.

It did matter and I am still upset by this. Screw Cuaron. You can squeeze in a five minute scene with Harry fighting a stupid book but can't explain an integral part of the series? Azkaban will always be my least favorite movie, and it's too bad because it's my favorite of the books.

I felt this way with a lot of GoF. They had Harry being chased by a dragon for half the movie and left out a lot of important storyline between the characters and made it really hard to follow if you have never read the book IMO.

In terms of movies I like the 3rd one the best. True, there are some parts that should have been put in, but I believe that it had all the important parts while later movies cut so much out. Although the first follows the book the best.

Exxxxxactly. Cuaron's ego ruined Prisoner of Azkaban. They tried to go with a director with a lot of buzz instead of one who would be dedicated to the books. Don't get me wrong there's plenty of times when changing what's in the books works well for the film (see: The Firm) but in a series like this where you have to placate to the fans it's a horrible mistake.

Oh wow, thank you so much for telling me what the movie's going to be called. :-/
teaser shmeaser.
I know right. I know teasers are meant to prepare audiences for the film, but I've seriously seen better. I would have at least liked the scene of Dumbledore telling Harry this.

Yeah, this was a horrible teaser. At least they should have shown that Dumbledore scene, or any scene for that matter. All this really did was say the name of the movie

The whole point of a teaser is just to create awareness. The release is still so far enough off that most of the CGI probably isn't even finished yet. Would it be nice to actually see something? Yes, but what did anyone expect when they heard it was only 15 seconds long?

Exactly. This doesn't qualify as a teaser by any standard. They could've ATLEAST previewed a tiny clip of a scene or two.

How can you even defend the "teaser"? I get what you're saying about not finishing the movie, but they could have done up a clip FOR the teaser or something. Anything would have been better than that.

It can be summed up as this, if that's all they gave us, it's for good reason.

Well, as annoying as that teaser might have been, people still started clapping for it when it finished so it seems to have gotten people excited.
If anything, it's just a reminder that the movie is coming.

teaser shmeaser.
I think it's an amazing quote for them to put though.
It has that underlying tone of Dumbledore using/while still loving/ Harry sort of theme that was in the book.

Yeah. They were so excited.

Well, like people have previously said, it's mainly to raise awareness. Theyre obviously going to put out a better trailer. This is why it's a teaser haha

Me too. I have a couple Cutler shirts that I wear weekly and I have posters and rookies cards of him on my walls. It's sad but I love him.

A few people in here need to learn the difference between a teaser and a trailer. Not everyone who's bitching about it, just a few.

Lol, I know the difference I just wanted at least a scene ya know? Maybe I'm just too obsessed with HP and since there's nothing but the movies to look forward too, I'm a little greedy.

I don't know if I've seen anything that you've said, so maybe I wouldn't include you.
I completely understanding wanting more. I won't rehash over the reasons why I think everyone shouldn't care. I as however suprised that everyone expected more. As soon as I read it was 15 seconds long, my expectations were immediately lowered exponentially.
