View Full Version : Alvin and the Chipmunks = $45 MIL?!
Until The Bombs

Box Office Mojo says Alvin and the Chipmunks made $45 mil over the weekend.
How is that even possible? Especially considering the poor East Coast weather.
Has anyone seen it? I'm tempted to see it just for nostalgic purposes. Is it as bad as reviews say?

i hear the movie has a killer plot line.
It's marketed to kids who have probably never even seen the original show. I don't get how this is one of those movies which people bitch about for not staying true to the original material.
good for david cross
it's pathetic that he hasn't been cast in something better by now.

I would have figured that it would make between 15-20 mil. Granted its that time of year where family films rule, but this just didn't seem like the film to cash in on it. The Chipmunks haven't been a major factor in kid entertainment in like 15 years or so.

Actually its not weird at all. A movie does well when it comes out. And that makes me want to know what all the excitement is about. But thanks for your input on what movies you think is garbage.

Welcome to America, I guess. At least I am Legend got the 70 mil it deserved.
I'd see the chipmunks if I was stoned, maybe.
My youngest brother is six and apparently he and all the other kids at his school were very excited for the movie.

I went and saw it tonight, it wasn't a bad movie, but Ill never watch it again. It's a very forgettable movie, nothing happens the story line is very weak. If David Cross weren't in it, I really think I would have strongly disliked it.

When i saw the numbers i didnt think it was right, but, i guess the whole family atmosphere is what boosted it. I mean, if you think about it, there really isnt any other big family movie out right now, i so i guess they just picked the right time to release it.
