Ouch. I heard on the news it was the biggest opening of the year though.

that dropping 36% doesn't mean anything yet. it only opened on wednesday. movies that open on a wednesday are generally gonna have a dropoff on thursday. if people aren't excited enough to see it on opening day, then they have no problem waiting until the weekend.
so basically, it dropped 36% on thursday. that was before any numbers were in on friday. if it's still dropping when friday's numbers are in, then it's in trouble.
didn't like the movie at all really, only good part was bateman.

That movie was hilarious. I went into it thinking it wouldn't be that great actually, but it was REALLY good.
I think I might be sitting this one out

I will be seeing it sometime today. Hope it's somewhat fun.
Just saw it tonight, and considering some people have been really harsh about it, it really was quite good! Although it seemed to end quite suddenly for me. Dunno if I just got really into it and lost my concept of time but..seem to cut off..preparing for a possible sequel maybe ?

It wasn't too bad but I didn't love it. I really enjoyed Bateman and I loved how Peter Berg had a few cast members of Friday Night Lights in it as well, especially Brad Leland but he wasn't in it too much.
Right now I'd give it a 3/5 but with some time and thought, it might drop down. The final act was pretty bad. I wonder what the original version was.

Oh, I also forgot another thing. They played a Ryan Adams song in it. He is the greatest and that made my day hearing him in a movie again.
FondestMemory
07/05/08, 06:02 PM
yeah, i heard that too.
i'm not a big ryan adams fan by any means, but when i like a song, i really really love it.
and that's one of the songs that i love.

Yay! "Two" is an amazing song. I love Easy Tiger. Probably my favorite Adams disc to date.

I love that one as well. Do Miss America has always been a favorite of mine. That one gets way too much heat. Don't get it.

would anyone be so kind as to reveal Hancocks plotline...villain, any twists, etc...as much detail as youd like.
Im not entirely a fan of peter berg or will smith, OR Charlize Theron....but I am deeply curious as to what it is about...
thanks in advance

definitely
BUT-- they could've done without it
I caught it last night and I thought the movie started off really well, then about midway it lost its steam (mostly because of the twist) :S

i hated the twist at first, but i think they did a relatively nice job working it out to where it makes sense. i don't think it was as bad as people make it out to be.
i just wanna see the director's cut. i have a hard time believing that the original cut of the film didn't make it make even more sense.
i loved it, personally. but i'm incredibally stoked for the dvd release because i think it'll be even that much better.

To be honest, I was hardly surprised when Charlize threw Hancock and the fridge through the house. I knew there had to be something between them by the way they were always looking at each other. Not to mention that based on the trailer, I knew there had to be something more than petty thieves to fight.
Anyway, I enjoyed the movie and was glad that the outcome was happy and everything was explained (even if that explanation was a little...ehhh. But I'll let it slide).

I was able to figure out the twist which kinda made it lame, but I enjoyed it pretty much

The twist was expected - they gave it away in the trailer. Overall, it seemed rushed by the end which kind of took away from it, but the first hour was so funny - "Because I've been drinkin', bitch!"
Smith really did great on presenting a character that is a dickhead but still fun to watch and like; playing on his good guy personality was really cool to see.
With that said, the finale seemed executed much quicker than I had thought, I wasn't a big fan of the twist and I could tell they had to cut a lot out. There were lots of dialogue where theyy made mention of things that hadn't happened like we saw them. Director's cut will be much better.

I kind of want to see it again. I think there is a double feature at out local drive-in showing this then Wall-E. I think I shall do that.

Yeah, I also didn't understand why Hancock was able to be around Charlize, but still had his powers, only until they were around each other "when it mattered" did they lose their powers. Also, if the process is slow for them to become mortal, why was it that as soon as they started getting farther apart was she able to regain a pulse?

thats more or less how i feel about it. i think i remember hearing that they re-edited it after showing it a Cannes or something and the last half seems hacked up a fair amount. but the first half is quality

I saw it last night, and found it to be an interesting twist on the typical superhero movie. Maybe it will change the genre?
It had some great action scenes/funny moments, but there were a lot of plot holes that left me with too many questions in the end. Will Smith's acting was great, some of his facial expressions were priceless.

I think it was a good movie, My only complaint is that it presented you with a crazy concept but it just really didn't explain to you how it all came to be in the first place. It sort of let you draw your own conclusions, which I think is why so many people have decided that it was a poor film. People like to have everything explained to them and not just decide for themselves how it all came about.
I think it was a good movie, and people should not just dismiss this movie because its lacks a complete story
