View Full Version : Mad TV is a terrible show

It pains me that Comedy Central syndicates this. The rate of funny sketches to bland, awful ones is about 1 to 50.

I used to love the Ms. Swan, Stuart, Lorraine, and Kenny Rogers sketches. Nicole Sullivan had some great one as well.

Hard to believe how old most of those are now.

Recent MadTV has still been better than SNL.

Even when SNL is in a slump, it is always smarter, funnier, and more irreverant than Mad TV. No matter what, I can always find something on SNL that makes me think or laugh. Mad TV is shown so much on Comedy Central that I never fall asleep with Comedy Central on because of the fear that I may wake up and Mad TV will be on. None of the cast on Mad TV go anywhere after their time on the show and the writers try way too hard. Most of it makes me cringe.

And no one try to tell me that Frank Caliendo went somewhere after the show. His show will not last long. It is so repetitive. He should have stuck with stand-up. Bad career choices.

I enjoy it alot. Ms. Swan, Stewart, Rusty, Kenny Rogers, Lorraine Swanson, Steven Segal, The Vancome Lady, Antonia..the list goes on of recurring characters i love.

Who cares if they went on to do other things? New SNL blows hard. It will never go back to the Farly, Sandler, Hartman days. And it will certainly never go back to the Belushi, Akyrod, Murray days.

I still don't cringe nearly as much when I watch new SNL. It usually depends on who is hosting as to whether or not it will be a good episode.

Kenan is not as good as he could be. Much of the cast is better than him on the show, although there are definitely a few annoying ones as always.

I'm not a fan, but they will have a funny sketch per episode.

Oh I was totally kidding; he's horrible on SNL.

Very very true. SNL currently has a great cast that beats the shit out of anything that MADTV can produce. Besides, people are always saying SNL isn't as good as it used to be. They had some pretty good seasons lately.

Everyone just compares SNL to what it used to be. It needs to be compared to be the shit that currently passed on TV as "comedy." *cough* Mind of Mencia *cough*

It's decent at times. Although I never even thought SNL was too great, besides it's original and early years.

Agreed. I think the current cast of SNL has some truly funny people. But I can't ever remember ever laughing during MadTV, except for Michael McDonald (who is too good to be doing this show). Like someone has already said, it seems like they just try to hard. Ms. Swan is just annoying, and by the end of her sketches i just want the person who's with her to punch her in the fucking mouth.

I miss those days you could waste an afternoon watch SNL during the 90s.

It's kinda of hard saying SNL is bad then you start naming all of the cast members. Bill Hader Fred Armisen, Seth Myers.....nearly everyone on it is good.

The Fix

Worst show of all time. In any format.

It's almost like they tried to find the least talented people they could possibly come up with, and then gave them their own show.

I'd give anything I have to punch that Stuart character in the fucking face.

Yes, a very solid cast, I don't get when people say the cast is terrible. Kenan is probably the least funniest current member of SNL, but he'd be the best on MadTV.

I would be the funniest cast member of Mad TV. So would you. I don't even know you, but I'm certain of that.

Comedy Central's programming is so unbalanced. You have quality, genuinely funny shows such as South Park, Reno 911, Chappelles Show (when it was still on), and then you have shitstains on the comedy genre like madtv, mind of mencia, blue collar tv, etc.

Watching it when your stoned takes away the pain of it being so dumb usually.

The skit with the old lady that talks weird with that cough shit and wear's her pants above her belly button is great though, it reminds me of my grandma.

It looks like they're shopping around for a cable network so they can keep going. I'm guessing Comedy Central most likely.

It was a bad show but I did usually laugh at the Randy Newman sketches.
