i eat chinese food 5 days a week for lunch. i found a place within walking distance of my job that has a "super lunch" special, for $3.20 you get a dish (sweet and sour chicken, pepper steak with onion, etc.) plus wonton soup. unfuckingbelievable because i am so broke.
but my question is, how bad for me is this really, healthwise?

Chinese food is high in sodium so it's not good in that aspect.

i rotate what i get everyday, so i've only had the sweet and sour chicken 2 or 3 times.

Chinese food is on a comparison level with McDonald's. The amount of sodium and harmful carbs in that shit is outrageous.
I love it though. :(
My mom is a health nut so I don't eat it often, but as soon as I get out, I'm goin' big. Life's short right?

yeah, its basically my favorite thing in the world to eat, other than oreos. oreos are like a gift from god.
i'm just kind of at the point right now where the emptiness of my bank account is a bigger factor in what i eat than my desire to be healthy, which sucks.

well, i'm skinny (although i'm getting a beer gut since i stopped going to the gym), but i have had some RIDICULOUS health issues. i had a testicular torsion 4 years ago and a kidney stone 2 years ago. a kidney stone and i'm fucking 23. at one point i was eating healthy and working out every night, but i lost the job i had and now i dont make nearly as much, so i cant afford to rejoin the gym or but the $3 super smoothies i used to drink 3 times a day

Yeah dude eating healthy isn't cheap or easy. You just have to get smart about it. Go the the super-market and learn to cook. Even if you cook the most unhealthy meal with foods you bought it wills till be about 4000000 times healthier than fast food. If you can't afford the gym look into isometric exercises and running. There's another word like isometric but it just involves alot of repetition of push-ups/pull-ups exercises like that, its called poly-something or other. I wrestle and my teams workout was rated the like 2nd hardest work out in the country and all we do is run and those crazy fucking exercises my coach calls stations.

cool
someone said its high in sodium, that is true and too much of that will mess up your kidneys but if you drink alot of water that will reduce the bad effect.
I think it is also high in MSG but i forgot what the consequences of that is, Google it
otherwise, there could be worse things you are eating

yeah ive been cooking hamburgers on the george foreman grill at home, but the problem is working 9-5, there isnt really a way to cook. we have a microwave but nothing beyond that. i may start bringing the grill here, i think that would be kind of funny.

i used to love chinese until i stopped eating meat and now it smells bad. ha and yeah it's definately not good for you.
sweet and sour chicken is really bad for you. Chinese food isn't very healthy, because even the vegetables have the sauce that is high in fat and sodium. Try just getting plain white rice, making your own steamed vegetables, and soup.
and drink plenty of water, esp since youve had kidney stones before.

i do drink a lot of water now. the doctor told me the kidney stone was from drinking too much coffee. after that i pretty much swore off it.

My best suggestion would be frozen vegetables...take nearly no time to cook (if you're not eating well, drop a little money on some EVOO, that shit will repair your body like you wouldn't believe), and are usually wayyy cheap (buy the generic store brand).

Hahah true. It would definitely be a good conversation starter. Especially if you have a hot co-worker. Just ask her if she wants one of your hotdogs.

yup thats usually the cause, and soda.
if you only have excess to a microwave i would recommend buying progresso soup, making sandwiches, oatmeal, quesadillas, tuna, hot dogs, 'baked' potato, etc... They are usually pretty cheap and quick to make. I really wouldnt recommend eating chinese food 5x a week, youre not getting any vegetables (if theyre soaked in sauce it doesnt count), and tons of saturated fat. Even though you may look skinny, you can still develop high blood pressure and high cholesterol.

Yeah.. I know what ya mean. I like to run alot so I am in pretty good shape. I try to go to the gym at least 3 times a week .As far as eating healthy though.. well lets just say that I eat what I won't and right after that I go for a run. It helps keep my weight down and it really keeps my ass lookin good.. ha ha.. I don't really think eating all those diet bars like slim fast worksthough b/c I have tryed it and it just makes me won't to puke. Also when I wake up in the mor. before I shower and get ready for class, I do 50 situps and 50 pushups. My roommate says it drives her crazy b/c I like to cut my music on and dance around , just to get me pumped up, Ha ha

coincidence, i just had chinese food for lunch today. i only ever eat it once in a while. i can't imagine it being very healthy eating everyday but i don't suppose it's any worse than like burger king or other fast food places. but damn.. i wish the place i went had a "super" lunch special for that cheap. i don't blame you, that's sweet price and i'm shocked to hear it's in jersey.
