If you read some more articles, it becomes pretty clear that they were wronged. The cop was on an ego-trip and lost control. Two Gallants actually filed suit against the police department, and got their charges dropped. The whole thing was a ridiculous mess.

I've never met the guys, but they seem really nice. They came back to Houston recently and played a free show for all of the fans who missed out because of the "riot".

yup. you should have ate at the olive garden (it might have been some other shit italian chane) across the street from the freebird before the show. tom gabel and his girlfriend left right as i was entering the place, and i talked to him for a bit. two gallants were a lot cooler than gaslight.

Lyrically I don't think the self titled lives up to the others. I'm very into all of the music, however.

I saw them with the Rural Alberta Advantage last month (they played a decent live show), picked up their three LPs and just sat down to listen to them. On a cursory listen to What the Toll Tells, it's fun, if pandering to that white dudes playing '40s/'50s Blues/Folk pastiche.
