I have to admit that I used to be a Rancid fan around the time of Out Come The Wolves, but ever since that I have been ashamed to say that I liked them. Red Hot Moon? :dissapoin
Green Day is a good band, but I have to say that Billy Joe Armstrong or whater his name is sounds awful. Just an opinion. His voice is very monotonous.

Green Day are the best band on the planet after thrice :)
I just cant NOT like something they do its ridiculous. I cant wait for their next album.
rancid have gone downhill over the years. but theyre still good. big dissappointment live but oh well.
i dislike the both of them, especially rancid.
and if the person above me is waiting for a new 'greenday' album you'll be waiting a long time. they aren't greenday anymore they are 'the network'

Granted, Rancid's new stuff pales in comparison to Out come the wolves or Lets Go, but... they were at one time indestructable, and I didnt forget that..
Green Day is just awesome...It makes me happy every time I hear them play...

The reason I love rancid so much, is cus Tim Armstrong is from where I am from, Fresno, Cali. So I gotta represent, Plus they kick ass! Green Day is only ok

Green Day is huge, they are pioneers, and one of the only bands that you can say there name and everyone will know who your talking about and how to sing one of there songs. Rancid......yeah, they just suck

you gotta give green day props. they brought punk into the mainstream, made it user friendly and accessible to all. i love their old stuff, i love nimrod, can;t say i like the new stuff that much.
as for rancid. i love the new album, i love out come the wolves. everything else is kinda the same for me.
Chadwick
11/18/03, 10:16 AM
I do give green day props, Billy seems pretty cool and stuff, I just never really liked the stuff they have played. As for rancid. Tim changed the way people can sing in music. I dont think that if it wasnt for him, guys with horrible voices would not sing.
FarPastGone

You guys def. are right though the new stuff isn't anywhere as close to good as the old stuff is.

Green Day or Rancid?
sweetsugar
11/18/03, 02:12 PM
YOur right, Tim is not that good of a vocalist, and when I saw them live they sucked ass, bad sound quality, bad all together, it's almost like all the little rancid kids liked the fact that they sounded so bad. I dunno, Green Day does rock though, and probably always will.

Green Day, there old stuff is better, and I like the new Rancid stuff more than the old even though I don't really listen to them much.

I used to love Rancid so much. Their new album is absolutely brutal tho. Red Hot Moon? Ak! Their old stuff is amazing, Out Come the Wolves lasted a while in my cd player ... amazing album, got me into that kind of music, whatever you consider it.
Green Day ... 'Dookie' was an awesome album, I have to admit. I still think Billy Joe Armstrong sounds awful.
isn't the network the same exact band members???

Green Day - Insomniac = Bad
And i actually quite like both Tim and Billie Joe's voices.:D

Green Day was my favorite band forever. They were my first concert back when I was like 8 or 10 or so and they released Insomniac. Everything up to that point was and is still amazing, imo. Their last few albums have really disappointed me. I don't really like their more grownup stuff, but they have the occasionally great song, like (is it called "Waiting"? "I've been.. waiting a long time, for this moment to come I'm destined, for anyhting at all...") and some others, but I can't listen to their albums straight thru like "1039/Smoothed out slappy hours" or whatever through "Insomniac".
I never really got into Rancid, becauseI guess I'm not huge on actual punk, but they have really declined recently. Out Comes the Wolves was really great, but that recent video off the new album was pretty pathetic, the one about love with Benji featured in the shots...

Green Day, along with Weezer, are my number 1 all time fav band. if it wasn't for Green Day i wouldn't be listening to the stuff i'm into now. Green Day practically introduced the world to pop punk and because of them the majority of the bands that are big now is because of them. Besides making awesome music, they are also the best live act. the new album is going to kick major ass and will be their best work by far. they've been working on this album since January.
Rancid are also awesome and are pioneers in the punk scene. Tim's voice is awsome by the way.

The only good Green Day is Green Day pre-American Idiot. After that, it's shit.
I've honestly never heard anything from Rancid that I didn't like.
My band played a Green Day song today, and a Blink-182 song. It's only funny because we are a crusty folk-punk band.
Also, what's with really old threads being revived today? And, whoever mentioned Pere Ubu gets major props.

Yea that is what I keep on saying and thinking, because I have seen some recnt pictures of the band members and they are not wearing makeup at all, they actually look how they did in the Warning/Nimrod era, but I mean just because they DID wear make-up on the AI album doesn't bother me at all, I like bands for their music, not looks

I think Greenday is an amazing band... when there where still tweekers sadly to say. Their older music is classic, no matter what genre of music you listen to OLD SCHOOL greenday is an every one fav. Then they got cleaned and now I don't dig their music as much, NOT for the reason of them getting clean, congrats, but when you have a huge change in life, as a musician you will also have a huge change in music, and I don't like the change. But rancid on the other hand, I enjoy all of their music and they shall remain one of my all time fav bands!

Green Day is OK, but "American Idiot" was a horribly over rated piece of trash. I'll take "Warning" over "American Idiot" any day of the week.
Rancid has a couple of good albums...and a couple trashy albums.
Either way, both bands have just been overplayed and its time for them to call it a day IMO. I rarely listen to any of my Rancid and Greenday CD's anymore because I'm just so sick of hearing them. I guess they're still better than 99% of whats played on the radio though :)

I actually like both Rancid and Green Day.
They were two of the first punk groups I ever got into, and their music has always stuck with me.
I even listen to "American Idiot" every once in a great while
And I can see where both bands, (espically Rancid) would get on people's nerves, but I still like them for the most part. Rancid's "And Out Come the Wolves" is still up there with my top favorite punk records.
But then again, I have alot of favorite punk records, hahaha, so...
Anyway, yeah. I still like both of them. But if everyone else hates them, I mean...it's fine with me, really...

I hear plenty of bad shit being said about Green Day. Rancid on the other hand, never gets looked down on. Although it is unfortunate that they just got the drummer from the used.
