Along the lines of

Protest The Hero, Kaddisfly, Sydney, Theset, House Of Heroes or National Product.

I'm just throwing names out there, but if you have a hidden gem of a band, let me know.

Creative instrumentals a plus.

i only know protest the hero out of those bands mentioned, but the band i was going to mention sounds nothing like them, though when i think of "catchy stuff with good vocals", i immediately think of The Ergs!

I'm pretty sure Sydney is a band from Canada. I only know this 'cause they were touring with Fireworks and we played a show with them. They were actually insane live. They were all good dudes.

depending on HOW creative you're looking for, i mean i really like the album combinations by eisley. its creative and with fucking amazing vocals, but its nothing groundbreaking or anything, just sort of what you would expect from a good indie pop band.

this is going to sound like a super dick move but:

you wanted CREATIVE, catchy stuff, with GOOD VOCALS... then you gave me a framework in which I could not give you such reccommendations.

Even though I must admit that the National Product fellow has quite the voice on him

"happy hardcore" is what idiots are calling that pop rock with breakdowns trend: set your goals, four year strong etc.

once again trendy people ruin a genre completely unrelated.

Yes. And?
02/04/08, 01:00 AM
lol Happy Hardcore is the new emo.

I just liked their song Echoes because it reminded me of bells. Haven't listened to it more than 2 or 3 times since though.

And if happy hardcore gets rule of 7'd , funniest thing ever.

Yes. And?
02/04/08, 01:08 AM
7'd?

02/04/08, 01:27 AM
Hahaha, you think they're that bad?

i think they're better than anyone else in that genre. I just thought "oh great, now a bunch of lame popcore kids are going to think they like hardcore because they like SYG". At least with fake screamo, you didn't have the people thinking they were into real hardcore.

Yes. And?
02/04/08, 01:35 AM
I see. Though..I've seen some kids insist that faux screamo stuff is hardcore...or rather post-hardcore.

x togepi x
02/04/08, 01:41 AM
they usually say post-hardcore (which isn't hardcore). and then they get schooled on it. they usually try to stay away from real hardcore...it's usually the metalcore scene kids that think their music is hardcore.

AH! If I see this name one more time today I am going to go insane. My friend just rec'd me them and I'm in school so I can't fucking listen and all I have been hearing about today is Vampire Weekend.

For real though Kay Kay and His Weathered Underground is the fucking shiznit. Very Creative, very catchy.

Oh, I know hardcore =/= post hardcore.

Hey, that reminds me of the girl and her boyfriend claiming Bear vs. Shark were emo pioneers or whatever in the hardcore thread.

Odd to see Theset on this list. I was unaware they were really very big. I hosted them about a year and a half ago.

Anyway, it seems like you're going for Canadian bands, as well? Try These Silhouettes? They were newly signed to Underground Operations.

What is with people actually knowing who A Run For Your Money is? I've seen them mentioned a bunch of times recently and I just think it's strange considering they're not a touring band. I feel bad saying this because I know some of them pretty well, but calling them decent is a stretch.
The color Fred.
Couldn't have said it better myself. Fred Mascherino has done something John Nolan did 4 years ago; leave Taking Back Sunday and end up making a better record. I love Bend to Break.
