The Lives of Famous Men – Modern Love, The Wooden Vehicle
Record Label: Unsigned
Release Date: December 18th, 2007
Who Is It?
A five-piece (maybe indie) pop-rock band from Portland, Oregon with an accurate and fleshy use of keys and proper melodies. Singer Daniel Hall is a breathy one, but it’s not pretentious or forced. This has a lot to do with the production on the efffort, the Modern Love, The Wooden Vehicle EP. Smooth sayer Hall is another instrument in the same, and all three songs are slick to touch. But the music?
How Is It?
A priceless hook and an warm-welcoming foyer for a band that OBVIOUSLY has TONS to offer. “Notes From A Cult Classic,” the third track, is my favorite in vocal pattern and melody, but all three are winners. The Lives of Famous Men are mean men when it comes to a good catch - these bits aren’t easy to throw away. The dancing is a bit jazzy – sparked mostly by the piano and Hall’s breathy undertaking – but the whole product doesn’t feel like a rip off disco. It’s incredibly refreshing, in fact, and outstandingly keen for taking a genre that’s normally littered with crap and churning out something solid and genuine. This may be similar to other bands/releases, but generic still doesn't cross my mind. I’m snapping my fingers, I’m pressing repeat … I think I’m blown away right now.

This EP is hardly an EP only being 3 songs, but it is better than you make it seem (and you make it seem great). The three songs are the best new music I have heard in a really long time. Very refreshing!

I love this band, this EP, and this review. It's nice to finally have someone NOT compare them to Panic. Since I don't personally any similiarities. I am glad Julia mentioned that.
As for labels, I am guessing somethings are in the works. ;-)

It seemed too easy of a comparison, and there is something a lot fresher about this band over Panic.

Love these guys! I discovered them by accident at a Show in Salt Lake City. Got a chance to talk to them afterward. They are some sweet down to earth guys. A LOT of energy and hilarious! Their music is even better. Can't say enough good things about them.

It's really cool to see fans being supportive of a band. Whenever I see a band with really supportive and positive fans, they move up on the scale of awesome.
