Corey (vocals) and Big Steve (drums) wanted a cool, positive band to play in. In October of 2007, they decided that the name "Balboa" would fit. It's not just a love for Rocky - although that is a huge part of it. It's about the heart and determination that Rocky has always had through every rough patch in his life. No matter what happens, he always endures. He might not always overcome, but he always endures and stays positive.

Corey and Big Steve added Justin on guitar and Little Steve on bass in the next month. After some discussion, it was decided that the name "Balboa" made us sound like a bunch of tough-guy, hardcore jerks who would punch your mother when you came to our shows.

We settled on "Yo, Adrian!," which has been met with great fanfare.

In January of 2008, Eric was added as a second guitarist.

Also in January of 2008, Yo, Adrian! recorded its first three studio tracks in preparation for a split-EP with Westchester punks The Runs.

A studio album will be coming in the next couple of months.

Hey Hey Hey! It's Yo, Adrian!

The newest add is "Sleeping In Trees To Avoid Bears," the final piece of the Yo, Adrian! half of our debut release, a split-EP with Westchester punks The Runs. It should be ready to go by the end of the month.

Speaking of the end of the month, we're hosting the First Annual Yo, Adrian! Ice Cream Social! A fantastic mix of music and getting fat, including Nose Bleed Island, Stoplight Standoff and The Marc & Tusi Rainbow Friendship Explosion.

On March 17, we're playing a St. Patrick's Day bash with Ota Benga, Public Service Announcement and Pat The Bunny.

On May 25, we come to Albany, NY's Fuzebox to play with Pendleton, Put Out, After The Fall and The Renowned Army.

Hey everyone! We've got some news on more upcoming shows.

This coming Friday (March 7), we'll be playing with Theta and The Marc & Tusi Rainbow Friendship Explosion. It's happening at TRINITY CHURCH in PLATTSBURGH, NEW YORK at 8PM.

The show is a benefit concert for a friend of ours & former SUNY Plattsburgh student who went missing late last December. His name is Joshua Szostak, and all proceeds from the show will be going to the Joshua Szostak Search Fund. If you're in the area, you should definitely stop by. Even if you think our music is awful, at least come out and support a good cause.

New songs new songs new songs!

We've posted two new songs on our Myspace - "Life is a celebration. Let's live it together." and "Bill Brasky (That Son of a Bitch)." They are a part of our upcoming, debut album, "It's Gonna Get Better." We're releasing it on January 30 at a CD release party with friends Goblin Grenade, The Gammas and Pierrot in Plattsburgh, NY.

The album is all recorded, mixed, all artwork designed, printed and put together by us - at a surprisingly low cost. It isn't the crispest thing you'll ever hear - it sounds like a DIY punk album, and we're sort of okay with that (being a DIY punk band and all).

We're also setting up for a week-long tour in February around New York State, with stops in New Jersey and Rhode Island. Woooo!
