Fireworks - We Are Everywhere
Record Label: Run for Cover Records
Release Date: December 17, 2006

With the music industry branding copious amounts of high energy pop punk bands taking their cues from the likes of New Found Glory, Detroit’s Fireworks keep to the program with their EP We Are Everywhere. The band’s emo-rousing harmonies access a rock club vibe and their party pop punk dynamics prove to be excessively active. Their uptempo rhythms, buzzing guitars, and energetic vocals provide mounds of excitement and rock anthems that make a connection with today’s youth. The songs take life by the horns and show a readiness to ride it bare-back.

Everything about Fireworks' songs is geared towards being positive. Their melodies have an upstream penchant and their pop punk style projects a friendly tone. Tracks like “From Mountain Mover to Lazy Loser” and “You Weren’t Born with a Bag of Sand in Your Hands” are smothered in emo-soaked chords and high energy pop punk coatings. The band never goes off track and maintain the course of party pop punk embankments with athletic vocals, rigorous guitar rotations, and chorus-line rhythmic kicks. All six tracks are equal in their nature, attraction and vitality, which make it difficult to grab select tracks and approve of them more than the rest. The lyrics have an anthematic rally-cry like “Cardellini” with verses like, “Calling all cars, we’ve got an emergency / We’ll clear the streets on the count of 3 / To make way for the parade / We’ll float away / Let’s get our hands on the key to the city and live life like our favorite celebrities / Cause growing up ain’t catching up to these kids lips, sealed by a fingertip.”

Band members David Pest, Kyle O’Punk, Tymm Rengers, Chris Mojan, and Brett Jones pitch a solid party pop-punk streak with their EP We Are Everywhere. If pop punk ever renders itself a classic form, Fireworks’ EP We Are Everywhere would make the cut.
