being as the majority of this forum is made up of americans and some of said americans seem to be fond of a few english comedy shows, i.e. spaced and the office, i wanted to show you two that you should ALL download/procure/watch on yr hi-def larger than african houses tv sets.

the first is for me and many others the best character ever created in english comedy, alan partridge. david brent owes so much to him.

partridge started out as a side character on a political satire comedy show called the day today as a sports announcer who was terribly adept. he was consequently the most popular character on the show and got a spin off called 'knowing me, knowing you with alan partridge'. the basic premise was that he had been given his own chat show and it always went horribly, terribly wrong. culminating in a horrific shooting on the christmas special where he was fired.

after a few years out the show came back but this time alan was divorced and trying to get his life back on track with him pursuing new ideas for tv shows whilst staying in a travel tavern. this was called 'i'm alan partridge'

a few years later it was back again only alan was now living in a caravan while his new house was being built with his ukranian girlfriend and presenting late night radio shows. this was called 'i'm alan partridge - series 2'.

this was the last of the series although there's always rumours of our best loved character coming back to our screens. i have selected some of my favourite clips from each series. i really hope some of you at the very least watch them.

knowing me, knowing you.

you may notice in this clip that the guy in the lift is in hot fuzz and many other english comedies.

my second recommendation for you all is peepshow. this is a fairly recent programme shown mostly through the eyes of two flatmates. one being a classic narcissist and the other being a neurotic. it's soared to cult fame and has acheived great recognition in it's short run. here's the first part of the first ever episode. i'm sure yr all clever enough to find yr way from there.

anyway, i hope you guys like them!

also, in the debate scene, the guy playing the bald brummie is patrick marber who wrote the screenplay for the film, closer. he's in many of the first episodes.

The lack of Spaced or Trigger Happy TV in this thread is almost criminal.

My favorite british show is Mighty Boosh, it's just flat out great. Everyone should watch it.

i mentioned spaced at the start and that most people here already KNOW it.

the idea of this was to show people with limited knowledge of english comedy but who like spaced/the office etc, something they might not have seen.

everything seems to turn into a pissing contest where people have to show off their taste and name as many other programmes as possible.

could we please keep this just for people who haven't seen those shows and have some feedback on them?

Peter Serafinowicz from Shaun of the dead has his own sketch show. Pretty much everything about it is great.

you have taste my friend, you really do.

mr serafinowicz is always in a partridge episode, as is simon pegg.

partridge for me is the pinnacle of british humour. the evolution of his character from his roots are stunning.

every scene is a classic. i barely go a day without thinking about him air drumming in his car with his phil collins tour jacket while lynn mourns her dead mother.

Trying to find a house for our second year of uni but before we did I made everyone watch the 1st episode of season 1 where he buys his "5 bedroom bastard house". That scene is probably the best of that series. So many quality lines;

"Yes! It's an extender!"
