Any one have a good suggestions on music bios or other books? I'm specifically looking for some good Beatles books but anything will do. I've read the Manson book, some Nirvana, Anthony Keidis and of course Chuck Klosterman.

I'm open to most anything.

There's a great Jimi Hendrix biography but I forget the name of it right now. I'll let you know when I figure it out.

The Clapton autobiography looks pretty good, as does the Phil Spector bio. I got them both for Christmas, but haven't started them yet.

Great book. Really sad, but a super quick read. I think I finished it in about a day and a half.

I just finished How to Kill a Rockstar by Tiffanie DeBartolo. It's so amazing. It's extremely true of what happens to musicians when they sign to majors plus a really great love story. I want to read it again and I just finished. Go buy it!!

It's fiction but very much based in reality if that makes any sense at all.

Just read High Fidelity. I had only seen the movie. It's a bit different but a good read. I think I still like the movie better.

Read Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist - much different than the movie. I wish I hadn't seen the movie before reading the book. Can't decide which I like better now.

I liked the movie, but I think overall the book was better. I also bought the book after watching the movie and I was surprised how different they were.

I totally agree. In the book I think it's great how neither really go back to their ex. They definitely pumped up the drama for the movie.

I just finished reading Downtown Owl by Chuck Klosterman, it's not about music as his other books are but it's definitely an interesting read.

Yes! I read this over the summer and it is definitely in my top 10 favorite books. The emotions are so real.

I would also recommend Nothing Feels Good: Punk Rock, Teenagers, and Emo by Andy Greenwald. It's got a great combination of the history of the genre and people's personal attachments to the music.

Everything Hurts: An Essential Guide to Emo Culture is also pretty hilarious, though it will probably be out of date pretty quickly.

Also, anything by Chuck Klosterman is probably worth a second read simply because that man is incredible. :)

I completely agree about How to Kill a Rockstar. It's so good. I don't even have the words to describe it.

Also total truth about Chuck Klosterman.

I will check those books out thanks!

Right now I'm reading The Words to Every Song by Liz Moore. It's a novel in which each of the 14 chapters is about a different character who has some connection to the music industry. Throughout the chapters, characters come together and cross paths. It's well written and interesting - I'd suggest it to any music and book lover :)

Again, ok book. Instead of focusing on Dashboard/Modern Emo(for 2002) I felt it could of gone more in depth on the second wave of emo and the earlier dc, sure it documents a little bit of Rites Of Spring, Fugazi, Dischord House, there were so many other great bands involved in that era..
Which is why I would read American Hardcore since it does deal with that subject,.
