theres this tree hugin hippie band named steel train and i think there the gayest band ever and there touring with the starting line and hidden in plain view when they cover the jackson 5's song a-b-c or somehting like that and make it even dumber than the original one.................... they dont deserve to tour with the starting line and hidden in plain view

Oh. You've got that wrong. The Starting Line and Hidden in Plain View don't deserve to tour with Steel Train. Steel Train owns their asses.
Among the said bands, and all the other bands that sound just like them (because creativity is something 90% of these bands totally lack), Steel Train is a breath of some fucking good fresh air.
Bottom line: Just because they make songs that don't have screaming and prepubescent sounding vocals doesn't mean they suck.

I personally don't like Steel Train either, but I'm not going to advertise that opinion in such a manner as Afi-Cky-Him.
You're a fucking moron. For once I actually agree with your sarcastic wit and comments about other people. This post deserves to be trashed, because anybody who calls a band 'gay' should be shot.
Sorry, had to use that again. ;)

the problem with this site is that 95% of the people are too narrow minded to expand in their musical taste. "steel train suck cuz they're not pop-punk" i've heard that said maybe 500000 times and it's just gotten kind of annoying. Whenever Kamtin posts about Ryan Adams or any artist that's not on drive-thru, half of the kids here crap there pants and go off. granted that this is the trash talk thread i'm not trying to tell you you can't express your distaste, i'm just merely trying to state that too many people here can't see past 12 year old vocals.

Another person too 'punk' for us. Seriously, not one person on this topic has said that they don't like Steel Train because they're not pop-punk, so get over it. You don't like pop-punk, we don't like Steel Train. What's the fucking difference? Pop-punk isn't punk? It's to sissy to be punk? I guess so ... cuz ur so punk.

dude, i'm not "too punk" for you at all. first of all, i don't know you, but i've always considered you as someone who in an almost uncanny way liked every band i like. your favorite band/song list is ironically identical to mine so i apologize if i came off as contradicting those types of bands. I'm an enormous fan of the starting line and i have both of their cd's, i wasn't intending to convey a disliking for them or any other drive-thru band but i realize it came off as that. my only issue is that alot of people dislike Steel Train for not being the type of music that we see as "drive-thru" music.

OK, maybe I misread what you were trying to get across. I just think it's not right for someone to think that somebody not liking a band is a wrong thing.

They're really not my type of music, I will admit. But one song is rather pretty. If they're a drive-thru band, then they MUST be good enough to tour with those bands. I mean, maybe you don't like "tree hugin hippie band" but you should still respect them. It must be hard having people make fun of your music just because it isn't about suicide and death, like CKY and AFI.

i dont like drive thru records and i have listened to every band on their label. the only song i like out of all of them is the early november - baby blue. other than that i dont like any other song i have ever heard that was produced by drive thru records.
Steel Train is a really good band, it's just too bad some people aren't willing to listen to more then one type of music. You shouldn't knock a band for expressing themselves the way they want to. They may not be the typical punk band but give it a chance!! Oh yeah and everything DTR produces is atleast decent. I honestly don't think there is a single band on Drive thru that sucks.
xforgetdecember told you what's up. steel train is more talented than the starting line will ever be. stop judging the damn band off of their ep of cover songs. steel train is amazing, get the song "angelica" then go listen to "the best of me" and know what's up. "angry:
...by the way you like fucking afi, cky, and him. end of discussion. close thread.

Not a big fan of Steel Train ---- they dont seem to fit the mold of most Drive Thru bands...
however, i do think that they are talented and all that. I Tend to like the acoustic sounding rock and rock vocals throwing in a nice melodic guitar solo towards the end...i think the song is called Angelica....
Nevertheless -- i wouldnt buy their cd -- maybe burn it off someone --
Bands like these, i find myself only liking a few select songs a lot, but the rest generally disliking completely. I find that with Ryan Adams too -- but atleast they hook me on a few songs...

I know man I agree, this is what i said in response to the Steel Train haters in the CD review and I think more people need to here it:
I agree with the statement that "I guess Talent Doesn't matter anymore" that I read somewhere in the posts. This band is not terrible. They are the most talented band on the label hands down. Just because they don't scream or have like super high voices doesn't mean their terrible. I love punk music but I hate most punk fans. They're uptight and forget what everything is about....the music. Everyone is so fixed on being the most hardcore and it truly saddens me. I love this bands music....I think that their first EP showed their true diversity from everything else I've ever heard. Do not say this band "sucks" or they're "terrible" just say you don't like them....cuz they're more talented than you and I will ever be.
