Doesn't really matter much to me but I find that when I'm reading and listening to music it sticks in my head. Like when I listen to a song I listened to while reading a book, I'll have a flashback to the part of the story I was reading when I heard the song. It is kinda weird and deja-vu like. Creeps me out sometimes.

I do. But if you were somewhat familiar with my taste in music, you'd see that nearly everything I listen to lends itself to reading.

Elliott Smith, Radiohead, Sufjan Stevens. Only a lot quieter than when I listen while not reading.

It works for places too. Like whenever I listen to Senses Fail "Free Fall w/out a Parachute" I always think of this epic thunderstorm I was watching when it happened.
And for System of a Down's self-titled I remember my family's trip to the Las Vegas Southern California area.
And for Korn's first I just remember the first time I ever listened to it. I was home alone on a Friday night, just kind of frustrated and angry and doing homework because I had nothing else to do. I guess that's the kind of memory that works well with the album's feel.
Wow, I could go on. I just thought of several more.

Hmmm comic books. Mainly the 14 Ewok comic books that was started back in 1986. After the reading we can have long discussions about the plight of rebels and the fight against the Empire.
After that I'm thinking romantic novels? Starlight Child is a good read from what I've heard...

Explosions in the Sky. If I try to read while listening to anything with vocals my thought-voice starts singing the lyrics instead of reading the book.
I definitively have to listen to something that's calming when I read. Anthony Green calms me so its Circa Survive.

So do people who listen to post rock while reading/sleeping actually like post rock? Cause personally when I listen to music when I'm reading/sleeping I'm not even paying any attention.
I kinda use music as just backround noise for while I'm reading. I'm hardly paying attention to the music so this is a good question.

I enjoy post rock on it's own, be it while I'm reading a book, or with headphones on.
But I agree with the person who said music with vocals usually distracts me from the book.

Yeah I definitely agree on vocal music distracting me I just think that if the only time you listen to post rock is when your sleeping, trying to sleep or reading/working them you aren't really a fan of the music. Which is totally your call but I don't think people can say they genuinly enjoy a band if that is the only situation in which they listen to them.
Yeah I agree, but I think certain psychical and mental states lend themselves nicely too the genre.
i.e. being tired, lying alone in a dark room etc.

There is just something about them that I have never enjoyed. I'm just not a fan. I guess when I look for progressive music I prefer the dirgy kind rather than there more in your face sound. It's not bad music by any means they are a solid band but they've just never sat well with me.
Same way I feel. At the same time I was never an ATDI fan either. Talented yes but not my cup of tea.
