Yes, I realize that the prize pool is larger than the amount of teams, I'm putting up an extra $30.

Who the fuck goes out before 9:30?
Seriously...
But I guess it won't work for East Coast people.
Should I make it earlier?
What day is best?

If you change the draft date, don't make it any day of the week after. I'll be in Myrtle Beach all that week (3/9-3/15)

Sometimes I'm out by noon. Sometimes not out until 1am. It depends on the day. But, I'm already in a pay league, and I'm unavailable that day, so enjoy.

I will not be able to make it on the Sunday. Is it alright if I pre-rank my players?

Man, I wish the basketball league was for money. If that were the case, I'd be winning money, Dave would have lost all of his
lol, Yeah, if you can't make it you can pre-rank as long as you tell me. No one has signed up, I need at least 8 entries before I'm even going to worry about money. I'll have to send out a few more invites. The STAT cats are: Sortable StatisticsH/AB, R, H, 2B, HR, RBI, SB, BB, K, TB, AVG, - IP, W, L, CG, SHO, SV, K, ERA, K/BB, K/9

Aren't those the same thing? Having hits as a category seems redundant as long as you have average, too, since average is a weighted stat. It seems like 95% of the time if you'd win Hits, you'd also be winning Average. Having K, K/BB, and K/9 while having no walks or WHIP categories makes it seem like the pitching categories are abnormally weighted towards strikeout masters.
That said, I'm not joining, so it's not big deal to me, but that's just what jumps out at me.

Yeah, the stat categories are totally bogus, part of the reason I'm not joining..

Hah, okay. Making sure it wasn't just me. I'm in a league with even weirder (worse?) stat categories, and I think I'm only in one standard 5x5 league, so I have no idea what's "normal" anymore.

yeah. we're having a problem in one of the AP leagues here where the league comish (and others) want both AVG and OBP to be categories and make it a 6x6 league of sorts...I have a problem with that too.

Average and OBP is stupid. OBP just makes fantasy--something already with a heavy tilt to HR hitters--even more power heavy. Suddenly, Ryan Howard dominates in yet another category with a .400 OBP. 18 of the top 20 players in OBP last year also had 20+ home runs.
I'm all for more stats and everything, but if anything I like to add singles/doubles/triples in first. Doubles helps power guys just as much as speed guys (while hurting lazy players like Manny, haha) but I think singles/triples gives a little bit more back to speed guys. I think I'm in an 11x11 and a 10x10 league. The 10x10 league has alright categories, though.
What should I set them to?

Having shutouts as a stat would be really stupid.

Why?
I think CG, SHO are fun stats.

Shutouts are a rare occurrence in baseball. It'd be very likely that in a head-to-head league that there would be many matchups the shutouts stat would be 0-0.
I just don't think it's something that happens often enough for fantasy. But, hey, to each his own I guess.

Take out Shutouts, and that'd be pretty close to what I'd go with myself.

CG isn't that bad. They're a semi-rare occurance, but it's also a really easy category to set yourself up to have a good chance at winning. It adds a LOT of value to a guy like Roy Halladay.

Nah, it's dumb. JEFF WEAVER had more complete games last year (3) than Erik bedard (1), Josh Beckett (1), etc etc. It just goes on and on. It's like a total luck stat that is impossible to sway.. just a terrible stat in roto, just bad in h2h.

I agree that it's a terrible roto stat, but I've still found it decent in H2H leagues. I mean, it's not like you're going to draft Jeff Weaver anyways (I'm glad he's still unemployed. Jesus christ).
With that said, I never said it was a great stat. Just that it's not that bad. I'd much rather have QS as a stat, really. Some people just like to get way too cute with their stats, though. 5x5 is perfectly fine for the most part.
