I'm going to buy this because I'm going to college next year, but I'm switching computers mid season.
Can I have an account on both computers?
Also, what networks are the games broadcast on? The local ones?

Yes you can have an account of both computers...I used to let my roommate in college use my account to watch games.
I've used it the last 4 years or so for Brewers games and they are usually broadcast from FSN. Games that aren't covered by FSN are usually some terrible camera broadcast with their radio broadcast over it.

Yes, accounts on 2 computers is fine. Games are broadcast over one local channel or another. I've never experienced this weird terrible camera broadcast thing he's talking about, ever. It's always a high quality broadcast for me.

Brewers have 2 or 3 games a year that aren't covered by FSN, usually afternoon games, and they just have the radio broadcast (Bob Uecker) playing over really terrible quality camera work.

I am thinking about getting this. Is it worth it?

Hahahaha ok, well 2 games a year that aren't covered by either team's affiliate may have this. So not a big deal.

I have the extra innings package on my tv, I think I watched 4 non Blue Jay games last year so it was well worth it.

Just be aware that there are blackouts for games in your region. Since you live in NJ, you could be blacked out for Phillies, Yankees, Mets, and maybe Boston games (I'm not sure which teams). There's a way to get around it by finding a working IP Address out of your region, but it can be a pain to find one.

I bought this last year as well. No complaints, I found it really cool to have. The only thing that bugged me was that when I was at work I couldn't watch the Yankees because of the black out restrictions. I heard the premium package is awesome, you can input your fantasy team and it alerts you when your players is coming up to bat.

I'm gonna need to do that for Mariners stuff sometimes.

Okay, so upon further research, the Mets are blacked out in Connecticut.
I gotta find somebody who goes to Quinnipiac to see if they get SNY in the dorms. I know SNY is in Connecticut, it's just a question of if the dorms offer it.

Oh, and thanks for the help everybody.
I might buy this anyway, because there are some AL teams I want to watch this year who intrigue me. The Rays, Tigers and Twins being some of them.

I visited last week and one of the girls who's dorm we saw said they get the normal cable channels - Comedy Central, TBS, MTV, VH1, your typical 2-11 channels and such. So, where I'm from SNY and YES would be included in that. But I'm not sure about Connecticut

hm. can people watch the games? Maybe my offseason package expired or a free trial of spring training games are over...?

Only a couple of Spring Training games are available. I don't know if they are included in the offseason package or not. I just signed up for the 2008 season the other day so.... don't know.

Is the Premium package worth the extra $30?
LansingGaddis
03/01/08, 05:09 PM
The only reason I chose premium is because of the quality. I know there's other extra features and stuff (like mosaic), but I think its worth it for the quality alone. 800k compared to 400k. If I'm gonna pay that much money, I might as well pay the extra and be able to enjoy it a lot more.

I'm gonna buy premium today for the year. Anyone know of a site to help with workaround IP addys to see blackout games?

yeah I had it last year and could never watch the phillies because of black outs (it was free so I couldn't complain). I had direct TV so I couldn't watch them on there either.. I listened to a lot of the games via Harry Kalas on mlb.tv so I couldn't complain.
I'm going to get it again this year though. MLB.TV plus iphone should be sex

its not gonna work on your iphone, mlb tv uses microsoft software/windows media player. plus, iphones don't even support flash yet.

If you do find a good site for working around blackouts can you post it here please? Nothing is more frustrating than a game you want to see being blacked out.

It will eventually. If not with a jailbroken app, surely with the SDK coming out

Figured I'd post here instead of making a new thread, but do the same blackout restrictions apply to Gameday Audio? or is that only for televised games?

i cant imagine mlb.tv working with an iphone unless mlb developed a unique site for it, no matter what jailbreaking is done to the phone/apps

there is a program called orb(i think that's the name) in which you bookmark stations(windows media included) on your computer, then goto the programs site on your iphone and it converts it to mp3. I'm not sure if it's been tried with mlb.com yet though.
hopefully I can just find a local internet sports radio station that covers the phillies and put it on iradio.
I should clarify that I'm mainly interested in being able to hear the radio broadcasts. I can't watch the phillies anyway because of blackouts.

I need to buy this again soon since I'm gonna be in Muncie all summer so I can watch the Crew and the Sox.
