Do you guys want Points or Roto? Didn't even realize it was roto haha...
Scott Weber
06/12/08, 04:11 PM
I like points a lot better personally. I hate head to head categories. you have to manually enter in points values though. I ended up kinda liking how the AL only one was. totally weird and new, but you adapt and create a new strategy.

Interesting setup, by the way. The only category I don't really like is that for pitchers you get a point for getting an out.
Scott Weber
06/12/08, 04:44 PM
I've decided that this is the last year I'm doing any head to head weekly sort of leagues in fantasy baseball. There's too much luck involved and it doesn't have the type of strategy that I enjoy for planning for the long-haul.
Scott Weber

Pitchers get points for innings pitched in all points leagues, so I don't see how this is much different.

ehhhh, I guess. Essentially we're playing with 3 points for 1 IP, seems a bit much to me, but I can deal.
Scott Weber
06/12/08, 04:48 PM
I don't like pitchers losing points for a loss. I'd take away points for a loss and maybe make wins more like 10 points.

The dudes who were Lasting Milledge and Delmon Young always were brutal. .250 hitters with little pop. Funny how that's becoming accurate...
Hanley owned in that game. I loved trying to get Joe Mauer because he fucking raked in that game.

quentin is starting to tank, so buyer beware.
bigmike
06/17/08, 10:45 PM
I'd buy that deal because Miggy is on fire and settling in. I would not be surprised if Miggy Cabrera is the best hitter in baseball in the 2nd half of the season.
Edit: And Quentin's still in a hitter's park, so even though his numbers are dropping, he still should reach 28+ HR's this year.
CubbyNick42

Yeah, I take the deal. I'd take Loney over Helton as well.

livethesounds
06/17/08, 11:07 PM
well i'm accepting. I'm pretty deep at 3rd, but i really think Miggy's going to turn it on in the second half. i only have Jorje Cantu at 1st, Loney isnt the best but he's playing better than Helton right now. Quentin's numbers will probably drop, but he was insane in the first few months, he's still gonna be better than Fukudome, who i had as my backup OF.

i'm in first place in this league by 14 games or so. there's nothing on the line as far as winning the league goes - no money involved, barely any bragging rights. gotta love having more baseball smarts than the rest of the league. josh hamilton was my very last pick. look where that got me haha

I wouldn't do it, but since you brought it up, I don't think there's any "selling high" on Gonzalez. He's been putting up good numbers for the past three years, something that is incredibly difficult when you play half your games in Petco.

it was mine. basketball was way better though because they averaged stats. why baseball wouldn't do that is stupid. teams that can load up on starts always have a huge advantage. they should average the two starts like in basketball, i never really got that if you're going to do weekly head to head. doesn't make sense.

uhhh, Jason Bay. I'm as big of a Price fan boy as anyone but he hasn't been overly dominant like a player of his talents should be in the Minors thus far and at the end of the day, he's still a rookie ... unless you need pitching help.
But I'm also 2nd to last in my only fantasy league so don't listen to me.

Anyone in the keeper league interested in trading for Aubrey Huff? Looking for an OFer or starting pitcher in return.
I've basically got 5 guys to play in 3 positions, and I'd like to give Ian Stewart and Chris Davis some more playing time, but it's too hard to bench Huff with the way he's been playing.
Garrett Atkins may also be available, but I'd be looking for a bigger return.

Yes, and the top team is mine :-(. This is why I hate H2H. I feel that, on paper, I have a much better team than the one that made the playoffs, maybe even the one that finished in first place. I was just so unlucky all season. One week my offense would be red hot and my pitching would be awful, and vice-versa. I think I'm going to stay away from H2H next year completely because it's such a crapshoot. It doesn't reward consistency as well a roto or points leagues do.

10 team Yahoo Custom (BoSox) (points) - 2nd place - didn't take advantage of the no innings limit early enough in the year. My bad.
