everybody's voice is annoying to you, so what is your point?

not everyones just people who scream. screaming bands wont even last more than 5 years. they will need a new vocalist before hand because screaming messes up your vocal chords. most "hardcore" screaming bands arent any good because their vocalist isnt any good. how could they put on live shows year after year if he continues to scream??

no offense, but this whole arguement is hysterical.

you are right, i mean what does it take to scream? they are only half-assed singers. anyone can write a sub-par song and scream it. screaming is ok every now and then but the whole damn song? i just dont like it the sound of someone screaming just gives me a headache. but im just posting my opinion you guys can easily ignore it.

ok record your singing and send it to me. sing some alexisonfire stuff and if its just as good then i wont bother you

it does take talent to scream good.
there's just plain stupid screaming.. and then there's good screaming

ok you guys seriously have no idea what you are talking about. there is no good screaming... its all the same.... just pathetic vocal talent... you dont even need it... plus you wont be able to last long with screaming it destroys your vocal chords.

Alexisonfire is definately one of my new favorite bands. Yes they do have a lot of screaming but the fact that Georges scream is unique, as are most emo metalcore screamers, is great. The other guitarist/singer has great vocals at times, even some harmonizing, which does well to balance the screaming. All in all this band could probably go without a lead screamer but it's mainly to help give them a more energetic and full sound, and it does.

Putting that aside, they have excellent guitar parts as every hardcore band should, excellent sense of rythym, and finally they have some great melodic intros and breakdowns. They actually have 2 smart guitar players who work great with each other.

I guess this band might sound the same as many others, but still that does not make them bad. There's reasons that they are on Equal Vision. I can't wait to see them live.

first of all, don't assume anyone with a different viewpoint is wrong. that is entirely out of place when discussing music, something that is based on countless opinions.

personally, i think screaming can accent a song nicely at places. i don't dig the whole scream the whole song thing, but then i don't think it's stupid. just not my cup of tea. however, i think there is talent in a scream. some bands can pull it off very well and have songs that sound better for it, and some bands just...well...shouldn't.

Alexisonfire is new to me...but I love their screams. They are like whispered screams. Its hard to explain. But its pretty sweet.

Did I fucking say anything about it being bumped? No. I said it was ancient. And it just shows how fucking ignorant this place is minus the few good regulars in this section of the board.

Seriously, learn something, you dont have that much e-experience.

that made SO much sense.

Me talking down to this place is not directed exactly to you, but mainly to the fact of the bad posting skills by many users, the ignorance of musical genres, and wasting bandwidth on shitty bands. Also, this thread was absolutely pointless. There was no real purpose or need for this thread in the first place. It establishes nothing.

and its you're not your. learn some fucking grammar.

when bad posting skills come up again, ill make sure to point it out to you so you have an example.

Criticization has nothing to do with whether or not a post is good.

Alexisonfire is one of those bands who screams too much for no reason when Dallas Green could easily handle all the vocals with his great clean singing. Their s/t is the only cd where the screaming seams to fit as well as a few songs from the others. George really seams kind of pointless to the band though. He forces screaming just because its his job. Ben from FATA never sounded forced in fact he would sit out of songs completely and let Francis handle everything and it always worked for them. I think Dallas needs to take total control of the band as well vocally.

I think AOF would be a lot better off without George.

He's a good screamer but the whole scream/sing thing seems to be killing them.

Crisis was an average cd IMO.

i like their first 2 releases, their self titled and watch out! but i'm not a huge fan of crisis.
dallas is one of the more talented singers that i have ever heard.

this isnt even worth arguing over haha
if you dont think there is talent and technique to screaming then you obviously know very little about this type of music. Some singers even go to vocal coaches to practice their scream. Just like any other instrument in any other type of music, some do it well and some dont. Not all screamers suck.
if you dont like screaming thats fine, just dont shit on a band b/c they do it.

on another note, ive actually just started to really get into AOF. Accidents and A Dagger Through the Heart of St. Angeles are two of my faves right now. I need all of their albums badly.

listen to their self titled, Dallas is hardly present vocally yet it's probably their best stuff.

They are a great band. George Pettit and Dallas Green add such a unique element to the band vocally IMO.

if you ask me AOF's vocals are actually a lot better than the lyrics (which arent bad in the first place). i mean george is one of my favorite screamers and dallas just flat out has the voice of god.
