i wonder if this was the "lost" lemmiwinks episode from a couple years ago.....just updated with selena gomez.
if you don't know what i'm talking about, like 3 years ago they ran promos for "the return of the greatest south park character of all time" and then just showed lemmiwinks for like 2 seconds. when asked about it on the website, they said "it got pulled, we don't know if we'll ever actually air it."

I also like the fact they aren't being too overly reliant on shock laughs (ie scenes with obscene amount of gore). I'm starting to think that there was such a dip in quality in the previous seasons simply because Trey and Matt's focus on Book of Mormon. I'm glad the second half of this season is so much stronger, my faith in South Park has been regained.

i thought this episode was awesome. not even because of the funny parts. matt and trey are just so good at recreating moments that everyone has faced in their childhood. obviously they make it over the top which is what makes it funny, but this show is great when it gets emotional like that.

Randy discovers musicals precede blowjobs ---> Randy takes Sharon to a ton ---> Randy starts writing his own ---> Randy meets the 'bros' ---> Randy tries to stop Shelly from seeing shows, destroys Broadway.
Add in the Shelly storyline, and what else would you have liked them to do? They 'ran to the end zone' with it because they entire episode was framed around that premise.

You're complaining about them parodying one of the biggest box-office smashes of the year based on one of the oldest, most popular comic book heroes? it was basically the same 2 jokes told 10 times each. The episode didn't rely on them and it wasn't based around them.
there was about a dozen penn state jokes. that's a lot.

The sweetness of the moments between Kenny and his little sister were great. Kenny clearly has some kind of emotional bravery when he's Mysterion. Kind of like when during the BP Cthulu trilogy he tells his parents not to be such fuck ups.

Well, seeing as the entire episode wrapped back to the Penn State Joke Guy realizing that he himself put innocent children in danger while making jokes about other people doing so...yes, it damn well was an episode about Penn State. (Beyond the cascade of Penn State 'we like to have fun' jokes, as if that didn't make it a 'Penn State' episode enough )
Kenny died out of nowhere because Cartman was happy he wasn't the poorest kid in school anymore, and they can kill Kenny, which made Cartman the poorest kid in school again. That's it.

The only problem is you're actually supposed to lean forward when you poop. Our bodies are built so that the most natural position to poop is in a squatting position, which can best be mimicked on the toilet by leaning forward. Sitting up on a toilet actually makes it so we have to strain a little harder then we would otherwise

Could not be more wrong ^ why ? It's really hard to determine what is the best show ever, I mean, if we're talking comedy series of course ... South Park has evolved a lot since the first two series, the fourth season especially is a great satiric work, some awesome irony is also used and some episodes were great parodies ...
South Park is definitely an intelligent show, funny, and sometimes intentionally offensive, I don't see why it couldn't be one of the best comedy series ever, and I'm pretty sure it is
Dodge725
03/23/12, 10:45 AM
While South Park is ONE OF the best comedies ever and I'd be willing to accept it as the most influential and important comedy of our generation, it's not necessarily THE best, especially when that's such an opinionated statement. Influence is much more weighted in fact/proof than personal preference. (Example: As much as I love South Park, I think Arrested Development is the best.)

30 Rock is in it's 6th season, and it's so incredibly original. What other show is even close to it? Maybe Scrubs with their exaggerated jokes and fantasies. I'm not saying South Park is unoriginal, because it's not. It was pretty groundbreaking in 1998. And it was absolutely great for years. But the fact is, it's not good anymore. The last episode I really enjoyed was Butter's Bottom Bitch. Every once in a while, there'll be good episodes. But the Cash 4 Gold one was almost unwatchable, imo. Same for the episodes about Thanksgiving, Crack Baby Athletic Association, the British Wedding, and Inception. Oh, and that shake weight episode was the same long, drawn out joke with the exact same punchline every time. We get it, this looks like jacking off. Next joke please. It was really hard to watch.
I'm not trying to claim any one show as the best. But if I had to, it would be Arrested Development.

when any of those shows get to 16 seasons, let us know lol. i love community, and i love parks and rec... but i think anything past season 4 for community, and anything past season 6 for parks and rec will have significantly lower standards than what they're at right now. when they get to season 16, and they have been as consistent as south park has in quality, then ill be seriously impressed.

how was cash 4 gold unwatchable?
and i enjoy 30 rock still, but its not very original anymore. they use the same set-ups and punchlines for every joke. tracy says something stupid / crazy / wants attention, liz does something unlady-like, jack says something blatantly republican / corporatist, kenneth says something stereotypically redneck, jenna is conceted and overly sexual, etc etc.

Well, you can break down every character in every TV show like that; South Park, Community, Breaking Bad, Parks and Rec, The Office, even reality shows. I think 30 Rock has such good writing that while it may seem formulaic, every joke is damn fresh. Even though Tracy and Jenna's jokes are so out there and non-sequiter, they're still really funny and not stale. That's really where the good sitcom's strengths are, the writers.
As for South Park, the plot was just bleh to me. You knew that after all the "you should kill yourself's", it was bound to happen at the very end.

If you put South Park under a microscope then yes you can find problems with it, but it is still far more innovative, commentating, and boundary pushing than any of the shows you mentioned. South Park still relies on shock humor? I don't know about all that....go watch an episode from the first couple seasons and compare it to the last couple. Such a vast difference. South Park has become less of a shock humor show and more of a statement making show on today's news and pop culture.
Also, in terms of all time great comedies....the #1 spot is still and possibly always will be held by All In The Family. If just animation....I'd give the nod to South Park. Never was a big Simpsons fan.
