You just don't like it because you're obviously obsessed w/ family guy and probably can't take it they make fun of it for what it really is.I love South Park. Been watching it since day one. But you can't tell me last night's episode was funny at all. Did you seriously laugh at any part other than the cop chase and the big-wheel explosion? South Park nowadays likes to take the obvious and beat a little girl over it with the Obvious Bat -- sometimes it's funny, but last night it wasn't. They could have ripped Family Guy so much better but it seems like they tried to play it safe by doing something fucking lame as that. Terrible episode. I can't believe all you retards going, "OH MAN, THEY WERE DEAD-ON," as if Family Guy was trying hard to cover the fact that most of the show is based on random flashbacks and jokes that do not pertain to the episode's plot -- that's why it's fucking funny! If the writers of SP get compared to FG.. WAAAAHH cry me a river -- don't bash the writers because some teenies hurt your feelings. South Park is pretty much Eminem. Anyone who says shit about SP will get made fun of on the show. I believe I am next.

Cartman would say it was hellalame.

And I did think it was a stupid episode. I think Matt and Trey could have ripped on Family Guy a lot better than that. The plot was just stupid, even for South Park. They always fall back on the whole "everyone in the town except the children are idiots" idea, which is getting a little old now. I laughed at the impression of Family Guy, and the car chase (The constant skidding and the cop car crash were great), and that's it.

I thought this episode pretty much sucked. The remarks about Family Guy were somewhat true, but it wasn't really funny. Family Guy's actual jokes are better than South Park, but South Park is more intelligent at times. The sad thing is that South Park has done satirical humor so many times now that the show is completely predictable, and 75% of every episode is completely worthless because you know exactly where it's going to go.

You knew Cartman wasn't doing it for his own good.
You knew during the freedom of speech bit that they were going to bury thier heads in the sand.
You knew what was going to happen during the big wheel chase.

Zzzzzz. South Park is not that funny anymore, and while sometimes it's smart and funny, it hasn't been in a while.

Glad to see that someone saw what i saw last night. Granted i'm a fan of southpark and watch it ever week. It seems to me that they have burned out a lot of ideas and have pigeon holed the town to do the same thing every time. I'm really hoping that they are using this episode as a setup into something really good for next week. but time will tell

But the sad thing is Family Guy is more predictable than South Park, even w/ the random shit they try to throw in, because it is the same thing every week. They were dead on making fun of Family Guy, they probably could have been funnier doing it but that doesn't negate the fact that they were right.

i'm going to have to agree with South Park that Family Guy isn't that funny. it was cool at the beginning but now this 4th season is so lame. half of the "remember the time that I.." jokes are just empty and too drawn-out. like that Nightrider thing is just like somthing they would do on that show

Yeah, except it would be funnier and more random than anything south park does. I feel like Family Guy has hit full stride again, and the fact that they can do remember when...things keeps the show fresh, because there's so little plot to that show that nothing gets recycled. It's like listening to Mitch Hedburg.

It's not even like that was clever making fun of Family Guy, it wasn't even a "it's funny because it's true" moment because everyone knows Family Guy's humor is like that, that's why it's loved, and that's why it's hated. It wasn't humor, it was just an observation trying to be passed off as farce, and it didn't work.

I really think the last few episodes of Family Guy have lacked a lot, but that's just me.

I don't even think this episode should be regarded as one, since it's clearly made for Matt and Trey. There's barely any real direct attack against Family Guy, only that they are showing a Mohammad prophet on TV. Big deal. This episode got so much attention because everyone thought there would be a huge fued between the two shows. I think Family Guy might retaliate, but as far as shows go, this one just wasn't up to South Park standards

How have they ran out of ideas? They still use the exact same formula that they have always used. Use humor to shed light on a particular event, group, or belief. Occasionally they will throw in an episode for their own personal amusement, as seen more often in the first few seasons. Their topics are just as current as ever, issac hayes just quit, hybrid cars are huge, and they seem to hate family guy and they tied it in with the danish cartoons. The episodes may not have been as humorous as past ones but they are just as topical.

And for all of you blasting matt and trey for this, it has been 3 episodes, three fuckin episodes. You act like south park has been shitty for years when it has only been 3 weeks. Cut them some slack, they have had bad episodes before and they will have more in the future, it's not like they are the first show ever to have some down weeks

I can agree with you that this season has not had a strong starting, but to say that they've run out of things to criticize seems pretty wrong. One reason is that the newest seasons have all been more and more satirical than the previous so therefore, as long as shit is happening in the world, they still have more stuff to criticize. They're usually real quick about that stuff too, like I think when Saddam was captured they aired an episode about it that following Wednesday.

they both approach comedy differently, so one isn't really "funnier" than the other in my opinion. however, that terrible episode of south park should have made you doubt the quality of that show, not family guy.

the things they said about family guy might be true, and their parody might be slightly amusing, but what alot of people are forgetting is THAT IS WHY FAMILY GUY IS SO FUNNY. its total randomness is the entire charm of the show. apparently, according to matt and trey, the jokes in a funny show have to pertain to a plot in order to be funny. when did comedy get rules? last time i checked, it didn't.

anyway, south park is a great show, but the last 2 episodes have sucked balls. and the episode before them was only funny becuase of the situation, so in reality they are 0-3 for the season. i'm really hoping this isn't the end of south park's long run as one of the best shows on television.

Unfortunately, I did not get to fully experience the awesomeness of the 80s, so when they throw 80s jokes in there, sometimes I don't get them all, and therefore it isn't as funny to me. That's possibly the dumbest thing I've ever read. If you honestly believe Trey Parker and Matt Stone give the same insight into political ongoings as Jon Stewart does, then WOW. I don't understand why people think South Park is so smart. I've seen every season, I enjoy it, but come ON guys...it's not even close to intelligent comedy. It's like reading the newspaper and making an episode around what's on the front page while making a) Saddam gay (OMG HOW SMART!) b) episodes that you'd have to be an idiot not to know what they're about - they spell it out for you. Retarded funny or intellectual funny, that's all based on opinion, and yes you'd have to live under a rock to not know that they're making fun of current events. Even if it's just retarded funny, give credit to Trey and Matt for at least having the balls to make controversial episodes, especially while other stations and shows do not even touch on currents.

Here are 2 of the greatest arguments supporting why South Park fucked up from 2 members here on AP:

[1]
Ok, I am so glad this thread is here because I really wanted to get my opinion out on this.

I've never been a huge South Park fan, I'll watch it once in awhile, but not regularly. I like how South Park has, for the most part, moved on from poop jokes and cheap laughs, but lets face facts, thats what the show originally was.

Last night's parody on Family Guy made South Park the biggest hypocrates I've ever seen in show buisness. Yes, I realize that at some points in the episode they were making fun of themselves (clearly they were making fun of the Scientology episode). But over and over, they kept saying Family Guy is bad because the jokes are irrelevant to the plot. Look at the first 3-4 seasons of South Park. They did the EXACT same thing. Matt Parker and Trey Stone did anything for cheap laughs back then, and they still do it from time to time now.

And what does South Park have against Family Guy? I realize they get compared to alot, but so? Family Guy has never taken a cheap shot at South Park. I honestly hope that Family Guy doesn't take a strike back either, because, believe it or not, Family Guy is more mature than South Park. South Park is "funny" because every week they just try and see what they can get away with on cable. Family Guy is actually funny even with the strict sensors that are on broadcast networks. In my opinion, that takes more clever writing. If South Park is so much better written, why does Family Guy have such a larger audience? Both shows aim at the same demography, yet Family Guy has twice the ratings South Park has.

I want to end this on one more example of the hypocracy of the South Park episode. When Cartman and Kyle and racing on the big wheels, and one of them flies off the cliff, it explodes on impact, which was supposed to be funny. Anyone see, I think, the second episode of Family Guy ever? The one where Peter is teach Meg to drive, and a horse carriage goes flying off a cliff and explodes on impact. Yep, the exact same joke on a show that just spent 20 minutes explaining that the other show is so unfunny. And it was obvious that this wasn't one of the attempts to show why Family Guy was lame. This was an "original" South Park joke that came directly from Family Guy.

Anyways, I'm done. To me South Park will never be as funny as Family Guy. At least Family Guy has some class and doesn't completely demolish any religion or set of beliefs in society. Family Guy, believe it or not, has more class than South Park.

[2]
I thought this episode pretty much sucked. The remarks about Family Guy were somewhat true, but it wasn't really funny. Family Guy's actual jokes are better than South Park, but South Park is more intelligent at times. The sad thing is that South Park has done satirical humor so many times now that the show is completely predictable, and 75% of every episode is completely worthless because you know exactly where it's going to go.

You knew Cartman wasn't doing it for his own good.
You knew during the freedom of speech bit that they were going to bury thier heads in the sand.
You knew what was going to happen during the big wheel chase.

Zzzzzz. South Park is not that funny anymore, and while sometimes it's smart and funny, it hasn't been in a while.

i think the big wheel blowing up was another shot at family guy. south park isn't one to have long drawn out chase scenes like the big wheel chase. i think it was just basically taking a common family guy gag and using it.

i just think they're tired of being compared to family guy, since they're two completely writing styles. this episode was more to point out that they're different kinds of shows. just because they're animated, doesn't make them the same kind of comedy.

i thought it was a funny episode. and i still enjoy both shows.

South Park does that kind of stuff all the time, I don't know what you're talking about. Even if it was a "shot" at Family Guy, it was stupid - how smart do you have to be to watch Family Guy, see that it's based around random, flashback humor, and then parody it?

Episode 802: Awesome-O
Cartman dresses up like a robot, calls himself AWESOM-O, and moves in with Butters. His plan is to learn all of Butter's innermost secrets and then use them against him. While Butters is thrilled to have found a new best friend, the Army believes AWESOM-O is some new secret weapon, and Hollywood is after the phony robot to develop their next big blockbuster.
Episode 803: Up the Down Steroid
Jimmy is in training for an upcoming sporting event and he's determined to win at any cost. Cartman feels he can easily take first place against Jimmy. He just has to convince the qualifying committee he's handicapped.
Episode 804: The Passion of the Jew
Kyle finally sees "The Passion" and is forced to admit Cartman has been right all along. Meanwhile many of the film's hardcore fans band together under Cartman's leadership to carry out it's message.
Episode 805: You Got F*cked in the Ass
It's up to Stan to put a team of South Park's best dancers together to compete against a rival troupe from Orange County. While Butters has won awards for his dancing, he refuses to help Stan out, as he hasn't been able to dance since the tragic death of eight audience members at his last competition.
Episode 806: Goobacks
Humans from the year 4035 are arriving in droves in South Park! Everything gets a little too crowded when people from the future arrive through a recently discovered time portal. When the boys try to earn some extra money, the time immigrants, who are willing to do the same work for next to nothing, take their jobs.
Episode 807: The Jeffersons
All the children of South Park are attracted to “Mr. Jefferson”, his son and their home filled with games, toys and animals. Cartman goes out of his way to get “Mr. Jefferson” to love him while the local police force resent him for being black and wealthy and decide bring him down.
Episode 808: Douche and Turd
When PETA demonstrates against the use of a cow as South Park Elementary’s mascot, the student body is forced to choose a new one. As the election approaches, Kyle tries to convince everyone that his candidate, a giant douche, is better than Cartman’s nominee, a turd sandwich.
Episode 809: Something Wall-Mart This Way Comes
The streets of South Park are like a ghost-town when a giant Wall-Mart lures all the townspeople to the new store with its incredible bargains. Cartman becomes a boy possessed by the power of Wall-Mart and its low, low prices. In order to save their town, Stan and Kyle have to find a way to destroy the ever-expanding superstore while keeping Cartman from stabbing them in the back.
Episode 810: Pre-School
For five long years, Stan, Kyle, Kenny, Cartman and Butters have kept a secret about an illegal incident that happened back in pre-school. Now, the kid who took the fall for the group, Trent Boyett, is getting out of “juvie” and his first order of business is revenge.
Episode 811: Quest for Ratings
The boys of South Park produce their own morning news show on the school’s closed-circuit television station and are immediately caught up in the intense competition for ratings.
Episode 812: Stupid Spoiled Whore Video Playset
All the fourth grade girls idolize a rich, famous and spoiled socialite. They even have her brand new toy set that comes complete with video camera, night vision filter, play money and losable cell phone. In an effort to impress their idol, the girls pursue the boys to make their own videos.
Episode 813: Cartman's Incredible Gift
After sustaining a severe head injury, Cartman appears to have the power to see into the future. South Park detectives are quick to enlist his help in cracking unsolved murder cases and Cartman is more than willing to help, for a price. In the meantime, a group of “licensed” psychics cry foul when Cartman refuses to join their ranks.
Episode 814: Woodland Critter Christmas
Stan is approached by the forest critters and asked to help them build a manger in anticipation of the birth of their Lord and Savior. Stan complies, only to find out that they serve a... very different Lord.

The bonus material contains five-to-seven minute mini-commentaries on all 14 episodes by creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone.

what? it shouldn't be.

return of chef was the first new episode after hayes left the show. where they just chopped his voice up and made him a pedophile.

i think they split their seasons into two halves, the first half in the spring and then the second half in the fall. i assume they do this so they don't have to show new episodes in the summer, which is notorious for lower ratings....but that begs the question, why not just start the season in the fall?

anyway, yeah. tonight's episode is called 'make love, not warcraft' and it looks great. i can't wait.

this is the beginning of the second half of season 10. there are 8 eps for each half.

matt and trey said a little while ago that they probably wouldn't go past 10 seasons, so hopefully we'll have a season 11.

no, buy all three of my roomates were really into it last year so i pick on them all the time. so i got a few of the jokes..."noob" "you just got pwned" etc. but it was a decent episode i'm sure it would've been better if i understood all that mana health bullshit

Yes it was all very hard to understand for the rest of us.

Not really....

Ive played WoW once and i didnt enjoy it. But its not like you need a deep knowledge of the game to understand the episode. As long as you know its an RPG computer game that nerds around the world play way too much then its easy to understand the south park episode.

The episode was hilarious, if you dont think so..then you are wrong.

Exactly

It was hilarious with little or no playing of the actual game.

Kif
10/05/06, 08:54 PM
I've never played it either, although I've had basic knowledge of MMO games.

I think people who have never played it aren't supposed to get it. It's those little jabs about people who play MMO games who have no lives that are what make it funny to those people I think.

Still, hearing Cartman say pwned actually made me laugh. Ahhhh, internet culture strikes again.

I also loved hearing Cartman say Hitler was awesome.

I finally got around to watching this episode and I loved it! I thought it was one of the best episodes they've done in a long time. Season 10's first half wasn't that great so this episode seems that the second half will be much more promising. Anyways I think my favorite line was really simple yet still funny the way it was said - when Randy shows Nelson how WoW works and he says, 'I can talk to people. I can wave to this guy. *waves* Hello.' I don't know why I found that to be so funny. I'm weird like that I guess.
