it's because EVERYTHING is just a pop culture dig now.

when the show started, it was all bottom of the barrel (albeit funny) brainless toilet humor. over the years it's shifted to become this entirely pop culture/political satire thing. I think they hit the perfect balance from season 7-10 and it's been kind of downhill since. Make Love Not Warcraft almost seems like the sharkjumping episode although the show is still good, just not AS good.

That's cool, I understand. I mean a lot of what they've done recently, maybe the past 4 seasons or so, have been amazing. The episode ripping Glen Beck, the episode ripping Kanye, the word '***' and it's social change, the whole Imaginationland trilogy, the vampire episode, tons of great stuff. This one in particular just so happened to be my favorite in recent memory, though.

Not to be a douche, but it seems like that comment was made pretty much because of how recent the episode was (and thus, fresher in people's minds).

I'm not understanding why this is such a big deal. I like the episode that was on last night a lot because I can relate to it. In thinking about the past few seasons, there hasn't been an episode that I've laughed at and empathized with like last night's. I didn't come on here last week and say that the KFC episode was the best ever, or say the episode about the kids writing a book was the best the week before. I've watched South Park for near 14 years, I'm not someone that just so happened to catch an episode and thought it was the best.

EDIT: Would it make more sense if I came back once the show ended and said the same thing? Or if I waited until the end of the season and reflected back? No, so as of April 8, '10, as far as I can remember (because 13 full seasons is a lot to keep track of), last night's episode was my favorite.
