We have always been a great team that has been treated like shitttttttt. Now with a little bit of anger and despite they are winning at will. Jump on this bandwagon or be wrong!! which one is it?? Now they willl never need that adrenalin push they were lacking, it is in them for good now.

Wow. I realize that this guy came in and kind of paraded in a pointless way, but some of the things I'm reading are aboslutely ridiculous. People discarding Houston as a contender after a 22 game win streaK? Listen you could play the worst team in the NBA 22 times... winning all of those games is still damn impressive. To call them not a contender just because of their history is just funny to me. I don't care if it was the fucking Grizzlies that went on this streak instead of the Rockets... you don't reel off 22 games on accident, and if you win 22 straight it's obvious that you can contend for a title.

With all that said, I may be a tad bit biased, because this tune would hold true of me, and I think it may be the best and most insightful amazing lyrics I've heard all year long.

What is more mind boggling? the fact that they have a 22 game win streak or the fact that after their win streak, they're only 26 games over .500.

The a's won 20 straight before and we all saw how that worked out.

Also, if the Rockets have inability to lose, why are they not 66-0, but they're 46-20.

I think the point was that they have won 22 straight since starting 24-20 (which isn't bad considering they had the hardest strength of schedule in the league over those first 44 games). I know he didn't sound too smart while saying it, but I believe he's saying they're playing well lately.

Also think about this. The Rockets have been covering spread after spread during the streak. The only game in recent memory that they didn't cover the spread was the Bobcats game. Other than that, I think it was game 8 of the win streak that they last didn't cover the spread. They're not just getting it done... they're getiting it done with ease. As a Rockets fan, I hope this continues.

Lol, I know the Rockets are good. It's just the Rockets were so disappointing early in the regular season. With the amount of talent they have, they should have a 46-20 record. And with Yao, it should be more. Without Yao, they're able to run a little bit more though. Look at the Sixers record improvement since they started running more.

I think just about anyone in the west can contend for a final run. All the teams are pretty balanced. The thing is, I don't know how the Rockets will fair playing the same team over and over again.

If you look at their schedule, the only teams they played twice during the streak was Atlanta and Cleveland, and they beat Cleveland twice with Yao. To be honest, I think they might split the next 4 games.

They have less "talent" on that roster than Phoenix, LA Lakers, Dallas. And they're comprable to a lot of other teams in the west in terms of talent. They play smart basketball, that's why they're winning. I don't think talent has anything to do with it, because outside of McGrady and Yao, that team is all role players.

Also, they beat the Hornets twice, so that is the one good two wins, but I don't think much of the Hornets in the playoffs this year anyways (they're good, but a little inexperienced in the playoffs... there are just too many good teams).

As a Rockets fan (and a biased one at that), I can say that it was a combination of a few things for why they started so poorly. 1) Tough schedule, 2) new coach, new system... it took a little while to blend, 3) Injury to TMac. That injury definitely hurt their short term record, but TMac has said that he thinks it's gotten everyone playing aggressive and when he came back the ball movement was much better, so it may have been helpful in this long haul. I admit, I was skeptical about Adelman for a while, and wished we still had Van Gundy, but I honestly believe they will be fine now and just needed time to gel before.

Also I can hardly even explain how much the Battier trade has paid dividends for the Rockets (I hated it at first). UConn supporters will be quick to tell you about Gay's numbers, but the numbers just don't tell the whole story. Battier goes up against the best offensive wing on the court every single night and plays great defense every night. Lakers fans that watched the game on Sunday would've noticed that. ;-) He is also perfect for our system, because he can hit the three ball consistently, create on his own on occasion, and he has fair post up moves for mismatches.

The other x factors right now are Alston and Scola. I don't care if it's the guy that I always claimed could never be a good distributing point guard for the Rockets that can consistently knock down the jumper as long as he actually does that well, which he has been doing. Scola has fantastic offensive moves and a great nose for the ball.

Sorry for going on my Rockets rant... my friends all hate when I start blabbering like that.

:bluesad:

One playoff win/series win that's all I want. I was six when the Rockets won their first championship, and though I did jump on the bandwagon during that regular season (yes, at age 6) I never have really ever gotten to savor a championship. With the Rockets and Cowboys I was too young to realize how rare it is for your team to actually win it. Now all I want is one of them to advance in the playoffs... one fucking round. If the Rockets can win a playoff series this year, I will be very satisfied... it's been since I was like 9 since they advanced, and maybe 10 since the Cowboys advanced.

Haha. It's nothing against you or the Rockets themselves -- as a Detroit Tigers fan I definitely know what it's like to want a playoff birth/series win -- there are just some teams I want to see lose and the Rockets are that because of McGrady. Ever since he said how good it feels to be in the 2nd round and then the Pistons swept him and put him out of the first round, I've been indifferent towards him 'cept the playoffs.

Any team in the west facing a tough next 4 games has a good possbility to spilt, thats just how the west is right now, and the Rockets have been the only exception, they've been winning everything. There's no way i can even attempt to diminish what they've accomplished, as it seems so many people try to do. Everyone talks about them playing teams without their best players, but half of that steak they've played without Yao, and still been able to steam roll teams. The majority of these wins they've had weren't just squeakers, they blew the fucking doors off the opposition.
The Rockets obviously have to lose at some point, but i honestly don't think it's going to be tomorrow night. i think it will be on the road, to phoenix or someone.

All that said, they still have a lot to overcome in the playoffs. T-Mac still has to get that first round monkey off his back, and by now the monkey's pretty much a gorrilla. But this is the best team to do it honestly, even though they'll likely face the toughest opponent they've had in the playoffs so far.
Don't count this team out because of past failures, it's a different team, it's also WAY too early (rockets fans) to be crowning them. Theres still a month left in the season, and when 2 games seperate #1 from #7, thats a hell of a long time.

Randall Gay is a pussy, but the fact you brought up their "tough" schedule makes me think they're not that much of a contender.

All I can say is that right now it's all about team basketball for the Rockets. The first game the Rockets played without Yao was against the feeble Wizards and ended in a 25 point blow out. After watching that game and seeing their teamwork type of basketball that they continued to play I said, "I'm still not convinced that anyone can beat the Rockets right now." And after that they reeled off nine more.

I'm not saying that they are necessarily the best in the West, because many teams have held first place in the West at some point this year. I'm just saying to call them not contenders right now is ridiculous. The team basketball that they are playing right now is at a level that I have never seen before.

Right now the Celtics are poised to win the NBA championship. They have the best team, and will not have near as grueling a route as the Western conference champion to get to the finals. And yes, their 18 straight against the West were extremely impressive. But a streak like the Rockets has only happened once... I'm living in a dream world right now, and if this does turn out to be the highlight of my season, then that is very disappointing, because I'm eyeing just one series win... that's all I want... please do it Rockets.

lol, a couple of you were waiting to do that, but as a Rockets fan, I don't really care right now. I know that a lot of people and all my friends will rub it in the next few days, but what are these people rubbing in? That the second best win streak in the NBA ended at 22?

Right now the Rockets are 31-5 in the year 2008 and playing the best basketball in the NBA. They were just lacking size tonight. All those trying to claim they are better without Yao see just what the Rockets lose when Yao is gone. But if the Rockets had Landry tonight (and I know the Celts were missing a certain someone too), it could have been a much closer game. The Rockets just had no size and were unable to pull down key rebounds. Something Landry changes.

Aaron Brooks needs to get on a team that will play him a little bit more.

ha And that interview was good. How can you not love KG?

It's so fucking classless for those fans to get up and leave - you're fucking team just went on the second longest win streak in NBA history - sit the fuck down, wait it out, and give your team their due. That's some bullshit.

Oh and... go Celts
that's not classless. that's every team in america.

Actually, I take that back. I just checked out his game log and it looks like he's been getting some decent minutes. Dude can shoot the ball.

He's gotten some play time this year, but they flat out drafted him for the future. They said before the draft even that they did not expect their first round pick to contribute this season (though their second rounder is a huge contributor). They won't trade him, but he's really not ready to even be a great back up point guard yet and that's why they traded for Bobby Jackson. Aaron Brooks time will come and it will probably be next year. Hopefully he adds some muscle, because he's shown loads of potential.

While I do agree with Scott, that every fan leaves after a blow out, I think in this case, the fans should have stayed and given the Rockets a standing ovation for the streak. I think something like that may have happened in the more loyal fan bases.

Rockets next three are against New Orleans, Phoenix and Golden State all on the road. It is possible for them to lose all three.
