If you want some harder instrumental stuff with occasional heavy screaming that's usually drowned in the mix (post-metal), also check out Isis and Rosetta.

I don't really listen to this genre/style and I am not educated on who is the best or coolest to like, but here are the bands that I guess could fit that I enjoy, so please check them out if you haven't heard, but I am sure you have.

Mogwai - Come on Die Young (This is the album that really got me to listen to Instrumental more so than i ever did)

The Album Leaf - Into the Blue Again

Explosions In The Sky - All Of The Sudden I Miss Everyone


and even the new Nine inch Nails new cd (I'm not a fan of Nine inch nails...but it offers some pretty good tracks...you can get it on their website for free! so why not? but i do recommend the other 4 before NIN.)
