I dont like the Yankees, and I dont like Billy Crystal, but for some reason I'm really interested to see what happens when the two join forces. Thats right, Billy Crystal has signed a one game contract with the New York Yankees.

This bothers me for some reason. And it's even worse since he'll DH. Fucking get in the field if you're going to do it.

seriously...if you are going to make the game a true exhibition, just put the guy starting in right...let him play the whole game. Otherwise, just allow the guy to join you on the bench and don't call him a player

I can't believe how upset people are getting (not on this site, but in general). Let him enjoy himself, this is a huge deal for him. Newsday had it on the cover today calling it a disgrace. Give the guy a break.

Nah, let him play a simulated game. Not a spring training game.

he doesn't deserve this. he's a fucking actor. i want to be a player for a day, where's my spring training game? Let him take BP. Not a game.

I watched Kevin Costner play short stop before for Cal State Fullerton against The Angels. He actually didn't do that bad, threw out guys from short. Had like one duckfart. Not bad for an actor.

Yeah...though its been done before by Garth Brooks and a few others...this is just slightly more high profile

Either that...or make him a starting player...dropping a guy in for one at bat is just silly to me, if you suit him up and make the game not matter at all, then play it that way

I saw Kevin Costner throw a curve to Shoeless Joe Jackson but Jackson lined it straight back at Kevin and knocked him off of the mound.

People are taking this way too seriously considering it's a spring training game. It's not like he's out there playing in a game in September when they're in a pennant race. Hell, with the way the last week has gone during some of these games the sport needs to be brought back to earth a bit anyway. The Yankee fans love Crystal and he has a long history with the organization so if they don't care why do outsiders?
And I'm sure someone will try and use the "he's taking a spot from someone trying to make the roster" argument. I'm sorry but if someone doesn't make it because they didn't get 4 more at bats then they didn't deserve to make it at this point anyway.

Manute Bol once played in a minor league hockey game, now that was bad. Im sure at least Billy Crystal woudlnt embarras himself too badly. Who really gives a shit. Spring traning is essentially pointless anyway so have some fun with it.

garth brooks played a few times for his charity. i don't see what the big deal is. i'm not posting with the homer blinds on here. let the guy take a few swings during spring training. he's not in the field so he's not doing any damage. it's a "ONE DAY contract". after this afternoon, he'll be gone. get over it.

Hahaha...I would pay to see that.
My biggest issue with it is that I might only get to see him at bat once...I want to see him for 9 innings, or at least for 5 or 6 and a few at bats. If its going to be a spectacle, I want it to be a SPECTACLE...cause what if he rips off two home-runs in the game, that would be hilarious
I also don't see why people are getting so up in arms about this.

he said his goal was to just touch the ball... not actually hit it.
