View Full Version : Personal Trainers
Has anyone here ever hired a personal trainer? I'm think about doing it to get back in shape but I had a few questions like, what should I expect to pay? What should I look for in a trainer? Would I be better off just going to the gym by myself? Any help would be awsome

I had thought about it but I bought a treadmill instead and I love it. Personal trainers are good if you want to be strong, me I just wanted to lose weight and it worked perfectl;y. Ive always been a drunk in a drunks body. Now Im just a drunk in a normal guys body.

Haha, i want to shed like 15-20 pounds then see where i want to go from there. I'm pretty short so i don't really want to bulk up.

Personal trainers make it so you cant just be lazy. they push the button for you to make the treadmill speed up. they yell at you when you are doing situps to continue on. a trainer will actually make you do everything. it is too easy to just slack off by yourself

That's another thing, I'm fucking lazy. I sorta need someone to kick my ass to get me going.

I had gained like 40 pounds after college but I had got a treadmill and honestly have losty like 30 pounds just from using it 25 mintues a day. I never wanted muscle and I just wanted to lose wieght and it wa great. I still have no muscle but I lost a lot of my college fat. Problem is I get drunk 6 nights a week so i still need to use the treadmill everyday.
haha, AA? I really just need to change my lifestyle. I work over nights 3-4 nights a week so my sleep schedule is comepletely fucked, I'm a real real picky eater so i tend to eat a lot of junk food, and i really need to get soda out of my diet.

Seriously I was the same way, very picky eater who drank a lot of pop but honestly using a treadmill 25 minutes a day for a couple months had amazing results. You wouldnt think so but it was great. I still drank as much as always but I stopped drinking pop and it worked out great. Id recommend just going to a gym rahter than a trainer. UNless you feel you have no self control..

once you start going to the gym it's hard to stop. you get yourself in a rhythm and you'll start going everyday. no need for personal trainers.

I think I might just try to control my diet and ride a bike every day for at least a half hour.

Thats a decent way to go, thats how I even out my lifestyle. I used to be a fat fucking dude but you would be surprised how much you can control on your own.

I stopped drinking Diet Pepsi, went on a lower carb, low fat, high protein diet and started going to the gym every day when I dropped out of school back at the beginning of February. I was drinking at least a 20 oz of DP a day, if not two. I'm down to one Sierra Mist Free every other day.
I've lost like 20 pounds, all shit I gained since high school and I'm starting to get muscle definition back. Plus I've gotten used to eating this way so I no longer want pasta non-stop like I did the first couple weeks where I ate NO pasta at all.

cut pop out of your diet. that's a gigantic first step, like everybody else is saying. you'd be shocked how much of a difference that one little step makes.
as far as personal trainers, i wouldn't go with one right away. start going to the gym on your own. if you want to do it bad enough, you'll do it. if you get into a rhythm of going to the gym on your own, but can't get over one last plateau, then look into hiring somebody.
i think it's key to get in the habit of doing things on your own first though. if you start off with a trainer, then you two split ways, you have no motivation to do it on your own because you haven't proven to yourself that you can.

I can tell you everything you'll pay to hear and more. I can't make you do it though
