les stroud is the man he not only has to survive but has to tape a whole show as the same time which envolves him exerting himself more than he would want to. I've only watched Man vs. wild a couple times but les seems to know so much shit about surviving

Grylls summited Ama Dablam, crossed the atlantic ocean in an open rigid inflatable raft and paramoted over the Himalayas.

He was a Specialist Combat Survival Instructor for a while, but during a training exercise parachuting his canopy ripped at 16,000 feet, partially opening, causing him to fall and land on his parachute pack on his back, which broke three vertebrae. Of course, after this, he recovers and climbs Mt. Everest. The dude is made of manliness.

Meanwhile, Les Stroud records his debut cd!!!

Stroud's show may be more "legit", but it's a TV SHOW. He even failed at that, I'd rather watch Man vs Wild.

ok...i used to LOVE Bear Gryls. i thought he was the absolute man. but then when he was exposed it just took the wind out of his sail.

that Survivor man dude is waaaay more insane. it's just him out there. no camera crew. just the filming he does is worth it enough to respect the dude. think about what a pain in the ass it is to set that thing up in certain locations and always ahve to go back and get it and contantly be worrying about the camera angles.

..plus he plays a mean harmonica.

The youngest Briton to summit Ama Dablam in the Himalayas, a peak famously described by Sir Edmund Hillary as "unclimbable".
Led the first team to circumnavigate the UK on a personal watercraft or jet ski.
Led a team of five British men on the first unassisted crossing of the north Atlantic Arctic Ocean, in an open rigid inflatable boat.

Those are just a few accomplishments, and he breaks these records to raise money for charity. He lives with his family on a barge on the Thames River...he was in the British Special Forces, he'll jump in quick sand to show you how to get out of it, he'll jump in freezing, ice-filled waters to show you how to swim through it and get out, he eats some of the most disgusting things you've ever seen, if there is any doubt he is more of a man than Les Stroud...go check out Les's wikipedia page, he's a musician....wtf??

Les Stroud wins. Bear failed at being a survivor the second he tried passing off his show as legit. I love hearing the disclaimers they had to add in there "My crew brought in this cobra blah blah blah" Plus Les has to film everything himself.

Lemme just reiterate the title of this post for everyone - "Who is the ultimate survivor?". Not only does Les possess vast amounts of knowledge for every climate he experiences, but he lugs ridiculously heavy camera gear everywhere he travels. He works through severe exhaustion and often dehydration (despite his obvious age differential to Bear) with backbreaking amounts of gear. Not only does this man flirt with potential death, but he does it alone AND hikes back where hes already been in order to set up cameras for impressive and dramatic shots. Don't you dare try to convince me that Bear is superior to Les.

HAHA. Bear would smoke les anyday. You guys aren't reading the credits. For every place they go, there is a certain survival expert that tells them all about what plants are good and what aren't etc etc. Bear is just as knowledgeable as les is. They both learn from other people. While they both act like they know it right there on the spot, they were both trained ahead of time how to survive in that specific area. Bear would absolutely embarrass Les Stroud. Who cares if he records himself! That means nothing. Bear has the experience to back what he does. Les......he has an unsuccessful band. Bear all the way sluts!

Yes I'm fully aware that both get advice from experts for each particular area. Perhaps YOU'RE not reading the credits - Bear isn't surviving, Bear is demonstrating for a few hours and then heading for the nearest Holiday Inn. I suggest you watch all the videos with links above if you haven't already. And recording himself pretty much makes all the difference. His camera gear is 55 pounds. Which may not SOUND like a lot but thats a ton of weight to carry on your back for a week if you're well hydrated and fed - hes carrying that weight through exhaustion. He's ACTUALLY alone and surviving the harsh conditions. If you watch the links and still aren't convinced, theres nothing else I can do to save you.
