By all modern definitions and conventions, Botch is hardly a "metalcore" band...they transcend genre boundaries and metalcore has fallen into a hole filled with girl's pants and bros who br00t4l m0sh to the same recycled breakdown over cookie monster vocals that fall into some attempt at melody. Whatever happened to the good ol's days?

Plenty of reviews claim that Botch is the most ripped-off metalcore band, yet the only supposed "metalcore" band that I know of that clearly rips them off is earlier Norma Jean (see Bless The Child and O God The Aftermath). I can hear the Botch influence in some songs by Daughters, but little to none in mainstream metalcore groups? They don't even sound like modern metalcore one bit, it's not like Botch invented chugga-chugga breakdowns. To me they're on the same page as late 90's mathcore acts like DEP. Someone clarify this for me please.

ah. I find them quite good, but people are usually either camp Botch, camp Coalesce, or "I hate the whole conflageration of midtempo dissonant 'metalcore'"

Botch is great. I don't know what they have to do with Harvest, Find Him and Kill Him, Kiss It Goodbye and Backstabbers Inc., but those bands are all awesome also.

Now you need American Nervoso, but make sure you get the 2007 remastered reissue, it sounds 100 times better than the original '99 release. Plus, the bonus track "Stupid Me" on the reissue is one of my favorites from them.
