I can understand Dredg not being commercially successful. But how in the Hell are they not one of those hipster or whatever critically acclaimed bands? They have released one of my favorite albums of all time (El Cielo) and two other amazing records. To me there is no band that deserves more attention than Dredg.

They're a very good band. Not most underrated that exists though.

Enlighten me then people. In this stale place music is in these days, I feel they are an immense breath of fresh air.

I am not sure what it is that separates this band from the slew of others that sound very similar. That is all.

Definitely pretty popular.
Not underrated at all, for the most part. But they're some pretty down to earth guys.

I don't think they are underrated. They've come to the New England and sold out small and mid-size venues. Most people that listen to that type of music know who they are and I know quite a few people who are fans. I think because they are so damn good that people think they should be wicked popular and since they aren't, it can be surprising.

Though I find it interesting that the only people I know who are fans are big music fans in general. They go to a lot of shows, listen to a lot of different things, etc. Dredg doesn't seem like the band for someone who only wants to listen to a couple songs of each artist.
