Who is the loser?

Im sooooooo hoping Dallas misses but I think its going to be Denver. I actually think Golden St. is looking like the best team out of the 3 right now. Denver dosent belong in the playoffs because I think I could score 20 against them. If you can run with them, theyre done, youll score 120. Thats not a playoff team.

yea but if you can run with Golden State, youll score 140...

based on the schedule it looks probably like dallas. really depends on their game hosting golden state though.

My point about Dallas is, same team that blew it against Golden State, except downgraded because Dirk rolls his ankle probably will bother him the remainder of the year, espcially with how soft he is. Kidd is just washed up and downgraded them imo. All 3 teams suck but I think it goes, Golden St. Dallas. Denver.

Jazz they'll lose all their upcoming road games and not make the playoffs. I'm convinced after they lost to the T-wolves today.

i usually have respect most things you post, but that was just wrong. just because they're 7, 8 and 9 seeds do not by any stretch mean they suck. I wouldn't be surprised AT ALL to see both the 7 and 8 seeds beat the 1 and 2 seeds this year.

lets break things down a little bit, starting with remaining schedules...

Dallas: 6 games against teams over .500
@ LAC
vs GS
@ LAL
@ PHO
vs SEA
vs UTA
@ POR
@ SEA
vs NO

Golden State: 5 games against teams over .500
@ SA
@ DAL
@ MEM
@ NO
vs SAC
vs DEN
vs LAC
@ PHO
vs SEA

Denver: 5 games against teams over .500
@ PHO
vs PHO
vs SAC
@ SEA
@ LAC
@ GS
@ UTA
vs HOU
vs MEM

now if you're talking about the tougher remaining schedudle i guess you'd say it was Dallas, but barely. that 6th above .500 team is Portland, and they've been struggling as of late.

IMO Denver is going to have the toughest road to get to the playoffs, starting tomorrow a back to back agasint Phoenix then going to golden state and utah.

If Dirk for whatever reason can't come back, the mavs are out, period. But reports are he's walking on the leg pretty well now, and he's hoping to come back before the 2 week designation they gave him at first. with that information i'd project Dirk coming back sometime around the Phoenix game or at latest for the Jazz game. Now if they keep losing to above .500 teams the way they have that would give them a 2-2 or 2-3 record before dirk comes back, but with GS and Den's upcoming schedudles, they'd be doing really well to come out of the next few games with better records than that.

In the end i think it ends up being

7.Dallas
8. GS
9. Denver, probably by a game

don't say that :(

i'm thinking the mavericks are going to be knocked out, like someone else said, look at their schedule, they are fucked

EDIT: if dirk comes back, it's gonna be much closer

As of right now Im going to say Dallas. If Dirk can get back soon, I think they will sneak in and Denver will get left out

Dallas will miss the playoffs in my opinion because they are playing the worse basketball out of the 3 teams. I think GS may have the toughest schedule having to go to Texas and New Orleans but they are also playing well at the moment. The next four games are on the road. if we can go 2-2 we will be in good shape for the remainder of the year. Dirk being back will definitely be a lift for Dallas but I have a feeling they are going to rush him back based on their position. Who knows he may not be as productive not be 100%. As long as GS gets in I will be happy.

Plus I think Dallas is lacking in confidence and are possibly doubting themselves.

Dallas. They haven't been playing well with Dirk in the lineup so I don't expect them to be any better with him out of the lineup.

it's Nowitzki, you're 20 years old, it's not exactly rocket science.

Kidd had a big day offensively tonight in LA. For the first time as a Maverick he wasn't hesitating to shoot the ball. He honestly looked afraid to shoot since he's been here.
That's a good sign. If he can try and take over this team while JHo gets his 20 and Jet and Stack get theirs we'll be ok with dirk out (and there are reports he could be back sometime within the week).
We've already moved back into the 7th spot after the win and the Nuggets lost. Tomorrow Golden State plays San Antonio and the Nuggets get the Suns again. Then on Wednesday we play the Warriors again. We can grab a decent lead over both of them with a win Wednesday. We're making the playoffs.

if you're 0-10 against winning teams with kidd what makes anyone think they will even be able to compete in the playoffs?

livethesounds
04/01/08, 11:12 AM
have you watched the games we've lost? most of the games, even to the best teams in the league have been by only a couple of points. So can we not compete with anyone? I guess not.
Kidd has very obviously been holding us back while he's been getting used to the offense. But it's starting to look like he's coming around. Howard is starting to step up again which he wasn't doing much of the past month or so. When Dirk comes back i think this team will be MUCH improved.

Its too easy to beat these team if youre balanced. Good teams, playoff teams are balanced and offer some kind of defensive game. I take the Pistons as an example, they can run with the Nuggets, Mavs, Warriors, and also get a stop when they need to. If you disrupt these teams in transition theyre done and the Pistons blow them out by 20, look at the numbers this year, they dont lie. Its easy to shut these teams down by either beating them at their own game or just playing a little defense while San Antonio, New Oreleans, Utah, Phoenix (with Shaq finally fitting in) and even LA look head and shoulders better than Denver, Dallas and Golden State.

The only way the 7 and 8s win this year is if New Oreleans is stunned without playoff experience, same with the Lakers or Houston just because of McGrady lol.

Saying this, I think those 3 could still beat every team in the east except Boston Detroit and maybe Cleveland because most east teams lack both ends of the court.

Well, for one, i don't belive that the top 6 teams in the west are "head and shoulders" better than the Mavs, Nuggets or Warriors. They're better, but not that much better.
And when you're talking about defense, yea the Warriors and Nuggets (even though Denver should be able to play good D) don't most of the time. Denver has a balanced attack, while GS is strickly a run and gun team as only Don Nelson can give you.
Denver has been running a lot more the past few months. They don't nessesarily need to, but they have the guards quick enough to do it. Breaking is the thing the Warriors do the most, so i can see how you say disrupting them in transition will hurt them. Dallas on the other hand is nowhere near being considered a breaking team. They have the ability now for sure with Kidd, but for the past couple of years this has been a halfcourt team with speed.
what numbers are you talking about? final scores? dallas also gave detroit a good beating their first meeting, and you guys beat us without Harris or Stackhouse, and we had a horrible shooting day.
I totally disagree. With Dirk back Dallas can beat anyone, i don't care what their current record against teams over .500 is. They can beat anyone.
Golden State, if shooting well can also beat anyone, while the odds are smaller for them because they're such a one dimensional team, i still think they can do it. If they draw New Orleans for example, i think they have a decent shot, even though as a whole NO is better.

so you think you can go into a 5/7 game series and win 3/4 games when you havent one a single game against an above .500 team even though half of those losses have been my mere points?

well, there hasn't been a 5 game series in the NBA playoffs in a few years, but yes i think we wan win a 7 game series despite that. You don't play future games based on the past do you? Withought Dirk i think we're getting better. We don't stand a chance without him in the playoffs, but with him we can beat anyone.

haha, i love all the people who doubted Dallas.

I don't really know who i'm picking to win tonight or to make the playoffs. I think the Warriors are a mentally stronger team, but IMO Denver is more blanced and should try and get them in a halfcourt game. I doubt that will happen though, in that case GS wins.
