I saw Crystal Castles and Health in Toronto on Friday. Very impressed. Not the kind of music usually talked about on this site, but I was wondering what anyone else though of them. Discuss?

My buddy was wearing a shirt by Crystal Castles today... weird.

I took my sister to see Metric and they were opening. Gave me a headache.

I was really impressed by the set. I had listened to them on the Myspaces before, and it was meh. But live, fucking awesome. So much energy, and the kids just went apeshit.

Not the type of music I would normally listen to, but they're interesting.

Yes. And?

I like them. Favorite song is Crimewave.

I love Crystal Castles.
They're not the kind of band i'd usually listen to either, but there's just something about them.

Alice Practice = one of my favourites atm

Yes. And?
04/02/08, 02:35 PM
Mine would be Crimewave, I suppose.

I've read some good reviews about their album, but unfortunatly I didn't pay much attention to it. After that I saw cd for a good price, so I decided to pick it up. I must say that the album is really great. So sad that I didn't know about them before they performed in Moscow.

Bumping a pretty old thread, but these guys are fucking insane.

Xxzxcuzx Me makes me wanna fry my brain on E.

Hey Kevin

I dont really like their more spastic obnoxiously 8-bit stuff
songs like Vanished, Untrust Us, Magic Spells, etc are such great songs
they put on one of the best shows ive been too in a long time, and most expensive ($20 jees!).

They are good, but nothing to write home about i'd say.

I've heard good things about this band. That's all I have to say about that.

What I really want to note is that the guy who made this thread is Canadian .. HOLLA!

Bumping!

I saw them live at Lollapalooza, and i was blown away. One of the most intense and energetic live performances i have ever witnessed. Alice Glass is fucking nuts in the best possible way. Favorites would have to be Untrust Us, Crimewave, Alice Practice, and Air War.

I'm so stoked for the new album. Here's to hoping it's early-mid 2010. I love their self-titled debut, but i'm beginning to wear it out. I cannot wait to get some more cocaine-and-ecstasty-fueled-old school nintendo electronica-noise-insanity.

If you guys like CC, you should definitely check out Heartsrevolution. They're the only other band i know with an even remotely similar Atari-arcade electronic vibe. Good songs are CYOA, Ultraviolence, Dance Till Dawn, and Switchblade.

I'm a huge fan and couldn't care less if they've been a "hipster hype band" for the last few years.

Xxcuzx Me is the best song.

I've steered clear, but for ridiculous reasons. I work at the most cliched coffee shop you can imagine. Most of the obnoxious fucks who frequent the place love 'em and, by proxy, I've just kinda stayed away because of that and hype.

Really, that's a pretty stupid, facile reason not to try them though. I'll get around to it eventually. Another thing is that a lot of my friends insist that you have to be stoned or fucked up to dig it, and I've been sober all my life, so I'm afraid I'd "loose something."

Again, it's a stupid reason. I just need to pick up some of their stuff and give it a try.

No worries, I still haven't heard a note of Vampire Weekend outside of their Blake New Face single for the exact same reasons.

I try to be open-minded and not judgemental based on demographics, but it gets the best of us all sometimes.

Also, I've never listened to CC under the influence of anything and still love it.

Hahaha, I figured as much. The single didn't really appeal to me at all.

Haha, I would definitely suggest a test run before you rush out and actually pick up any material, but I really don't think they're as inaccessible as the nice folks here are making them out to be.

i remember they went on tour with NIN and my friends complained about them, but i mean honestly, you're watching a dance band play in a seated hockey arena.
i saw them at sasquatch last year in the dance tent, one of the best sets i saw there this side of bon iver and explosions. amzingly intense. great group.

and canadian.

Yeah, that's how I'll listen to them, I imagine. I liked the album. It's fun, but it isn't something I'll be clamoring to listen to repeatedly. Every so often, I'll get the urge, I think.

I checked out the myspace, but I don't have the money to buy the album off the link at the moment (where the fuck's my financial aid/loan money?). I like it though. It's really cool, Lo-Fi Folk, and I like the horns. I'll grab the Divorce Lawyers I Shave My Head when I have some dough. Thanks again.

See, I listened to a couple of the songs off II for fun, and they were just meh, so I didn't feel compelled to return to them. And then I saw this youtube video that had a song I liked and apparently it was from their first album, so I went ahead and checked that shizz out.

to me, I was an album of songs that were either good or just filler. II is so much more consistent, and has some of their best songs yet
