View Full Version : An Idea

Ok well, I had this brilliant plan and if you hear me out, you might like it. Ok well, some songs out there are quite confusing when you read the lyrics like...you just don't get it at all. And that can be very frustrating at times. Sometimes people just want to know the meanings or stories behind songs out of curiosity. So, I say there be some sorta official thread that helps explain confusing songs. It pretty much goes like...you name the band, the song, and if possible a link to the lyrics (or just post the lyrics) and ask for an interpretation. If someone doesn't know exactly what the band meant it to be cause they dunno, they can still put up what they think the song means and it might help someone out. It's really not a bad idea, maybe we can try it if there's enough demand for it.

There are way too many stupid people in the world for this to work.

I'm in PSEUDO-agreement with the three above me.
It's not people being stupid, it's the way songs can be interpreted. Some songs have one way. Those are not confusing. The confusing ones have multiple meanings, and while people may not get the same meaning out of songs that you do, it doesn't make them stupid. It makes them different.
And I am all for the free exchange of opinions on anything, including song meanings.

I fukin love you Garry!
This will cause another debate-filled thread that Ill be forced to lock...Its a great idea, but it would never work here... Just because of the immaturity levels, and like Garry said, the different interpretations...

I agree with you. Its both things that are a problem. First, songs can be interpretted so widely, its not even funny. Second, people will just put up bullshit answers to be funny. Im not a jerk most of the time, but about once a week probably, because Im so juvenile sometimes, I get on here and talk shit.... so thats just me, but alot of people are assholes 24 / 7.... so.. its just a bad idea. Richter, you can start the thread if you want, but I wouldnt count on it being a sticky or anything.

I'm an asshole 24/7, but it's because most people deserve it.
Seriously . . . you're going to get people taking songs that don't even really deserve a literal interpretation saying "0 i think itz ab0ut luvv!!! lol i luvv u guyz!!!"
The only way this would work is if you took a few designated interpreters and had them work on various songs. The average person is way too fucking stupid.
And yes, most of you are average.

Always excited to hear a comical retort,

stop posting in only the "General" forums and press your back button or perhaps the "Forum" tab at the top...maybe even the "Absolute Punk Forums" directory listings link up a little bit, scroll down a little and you will see a "lyrics" forum. people just don't use it.

Ya, that is true...it would cause a lot of problems. I didn't think of that but it's inevitable. Hmm, possibly pick and choose certain forum members to interpret songs? I dunno like...people ask for like...one song a day to be interpreted to member X and he/she chooses one of his/her liking and interprets it and posts. The only problem I see with this is that it would create a lot of unnecessary animosity and tension between members. We can do a vote but I dunno if this sorta thing has that much demand that we need to make the process so complex. Well, thanks for hearing me out...just wanted to throw the idea out there...maybe you guys can think of something that'll work.
