Have any of you ever been in marching band / percussion ? Yeah this is my situation..
I have never been in it before. A few months back, I had the sudden interest in participating in that. I still kind of do, but then what discourages me is the whole process of learning and time it takes. It will be kind of hard for me, since this is my first time, and I am in HIGH SCHOOL where there is NO BEGINNERS. One of my older friends, who has maybe like 10+ years of experience is willing to teach me. What I plan on doing in percussion is PIT (mallets and bells). The season starts soon, and I have to decide by tonight if I really want to do this. I know this takes a lot of commitment and dedication and I'm really not sure if I should go for it. If I go along with this, the current guitar lessons I am taking every saturday, will have to be canceled. I have only about 1+ year on the guitar, but I understand most of the basics and what not. I know I can listen to a song and have no problem playing it by reading the TAB (depending on the song, of course), but of course I suck compared to a lot of others.

Help me out here..please ?

Thanks for reading...and stuff. Haha.

dude, by all means do it. There are so many guitar players now, its not even funny, but if you want to play in a band, being a drummer is the way to go. And there is no better experience that playing in marchinig band. The drummer for my band is soo good, and he got all his skills in marching band. Go for it man, and best of luck.
