Very non-sequitor:

It annoys the fuck out of me when people mispronounce "Achilles." It's not "uh-kill-eez." It's a French name. It's "ah-sheel."

For that matter, it annoys the fuck out of me when people mispronounce other French words. If you're going to say it, at least learn how to say it properly. Don't Americanize it just because you're lazy or stupid. Or both.

Just a question...

Wasn't Achilles the famous tragic hero in The Iliad? If so, wouldn't his name, therefore, originally come from Greek origins, not French?

Achilles is a French name. The fact that it's in one of Homer's epics doesn't necessarily make it Greek.
