haha alright i know this is gonna start some shit. I love music, and i love emo-punk its my fav type of music. I grew up listening to blink reel-big-fish, nfg, fenix-tx and zebrahead. Now its more like brand new, tbs, the early november, moneen, more mellow emotional stuff. So i guess you can and will judge me from that BUT i also like rap. I always have and always will. I agree they talk about nothing most of the time, but its just like an escape for me you know, listening to alot of emotional stuff drags you down some times rap is just an escape, plus i love the music production, the beats, beatmakers, neptunes, timbaland and all of that. i know theres alot of rap-haters in here and i just want you guys to tell me why you hate it so much.

I happen to love hip-hop... Of course, something containing talent, and style... What would you consider "Good" rap/hip-hop? What do you listen to?

Minus Fabolus, and RZA would be considered part of Wu-Tang, unless you mean him as a solo artist...
Im all about Tupac, The Roots, Wu- Tang and The "No-To-Ri-O- US You just lay down slow"
Yeah, watch me bust out these rhymes.....

yeah, I agree....take Fabolous out of there. He took that chorus from "you can't deny it" right from Tupac, too.
I'd also throw in Aesop Rock, Cane, Warbux, Lyrics Born, Blackalicious, Jurassic 5, Swollen Members, Sweatshop Union, Jinusean (some fun Korean rap), J-Live, Del Tha Funkee Homosapien, Hieroglyphics, Dilated Peoples, El-P, Tonedeff, Pharoahe Monch....I could go on a lot longer, but that would be annoying to everyone so I'll stop.

I don't find myself listening to rap much, but whatever.
Outkast, I like his music, what would he be considered? The Roots, they're fairly good as well.

Definitely. Hieroglyphics is simply amazing. It's hard to beat a group with Del at the helm (note the reference to the song) and other great rappers surrounding him.

I only like DMX, Eminem, 50 Cent, Outkast, and some of Ludacris's old stuff. Can't stand that "stand up" song.
Anyone heard of The Living Legends? They're pretty cool too.

why yes they do...i just noticed something too. my mommy always tells me to start listening to some other genres other than hardcore, punk, emo, (some metal). she asked me about country and my reply: i hate country; she asked me about rap and my reply: i cant stand rap; and then she got into something else...i cant remember what it was though. was a while ago.
its a good thing that i have an older sister. she's the one that "introduced" to me to all the punk, like blink 182 and thrice and sum 41. too bad that she's gonna be graduating at the end of this year :( wont have as much time to spend with her this year as i usually do...

Get anything from either of their solo albums. I'd definitely check out Oh No by Mos Def and Pharoahe Monch. Get By is a great song by Talib Kweli. If you want the best of both, though, check out the cd "Mos Def and Talib Kweli are...Blackstar"...it's hard to top that.

when i was living in the ghetto as a young child, i listened to rap all the time.
and you may think that's me trying my hardest to be funny, but that would be the sad truth. of course i only stayed in the ghetto for a couple months but i still listened to rap all through elementary school... how funny is that?
anyway, i like missy elliot. she's just out there.

its good to see ppl with other varities.... anyone here like N.E.R.D....they are one of my favorite "bands"... I dont know if you can call them a band... but whatever they are..they kick ass...andre's "Love Below" half of outkast's double cd reminds me of them alittle bit...because it blends all different types of music together.. you gotta love that
N.E.R.D. "Fly or Die"----March 2nd!!!
you guys should all check it out..

Definately check out anything by Blackstar, it's amazing. Separately, check out "Hip Hop" and "Ms. Fat Booty" by Mos and "Rush" and "Get By" by Talib. But basically anything on their solo cds is real good.

I hated rap until I came to college. A kid in my hall from South Philly made me a CD of what he calls "intellectual shit," and it's amazing. Nas is the shit. 50 Cent is lame as hell. He's been shot nine times - great.
