Shows just how much things are still somewhat the same. This is 8/4/1957. Discussing things like Free Agency which never happened until 1975. "Commissioner for the players" or, head of the Players Union. Talking about players needing to get a cut of the money the game made.
And the best part? In 1957, Congress was holding hearings regarding baseball. 1957! 50 years later and baseball is on capitol hill for other issues. I had no idea that Congress got involved in these sorts of things.
Side note: I love the start where Mike Wallace (of 60 Minutes fame) pitches the Cigarettes. Also, about halfway through mentioning basically that in 1957 American children were fat and lazy then, too.
