not a big deal, but i just realized in history today i have ear lobes so i can do it. and it'll close up if i don't like them down the road. but that's not the point of the thread. from all the stores i went to today, i couldn't find the ones i wanted. i know you have to keep the first pair in there for 2-3 months but those of course aren't the ones i want. anyone know of a place online that isn't like jc penny or something? thanks.

You seem a bit confused...here's a simple rundown of how to get your ears pierced:

Find a piercing parlor. Not Claire's or some mall type place that will use a gun. Those cannot be properly cleaned and may give you some nasty bug. A piercing parlor should have experienced piercers and should be able to answer your questions if you have any. They should also be able to recommend proper after care. The piercing room should be sealed off from the rest of the shop and make sure they always, always use gloves and clean their hands.

you will buy your earrings at the parlor. They must to be sterilized so they are going to be plain, everyday hoops or studs made of some grade of metal, usually surgical steel because it is non reactive but you may also get titanium or a more expensive metal.

Hopefully roxy (username) will find this thread, she is much more educated/better at explaining this than I am.

How very manly of you..

People will argue it's better to get it done at a peircer and I agree in most cases but this is just your earlobes, not much damage can be done..if it was anywhere else, I'd recommend getting it done with a hollow needle. Going to a little place that uses a gun will be cheaper..and since you don't even know if you'll like it, that'll probably work out.

i work at a tattoo/piercing shop. It is def better to get your ears done at a shop, byt a piercer. The guns they use at other places can be cleaned but can not be sterilized. so ew. But as the above people poibted out, it is better to get it done with a hollow needle. less chance of infection as well.

I've got both my lobes double-pierced and I had no problems getting it done at Piercing Pagoda at my mall, with a gun.

Any other piercing I would recommend getting done with a hollow needle, but honestly as long as you clean the lobe piercing as much as it tells you to, you'll be fine.

my friend has a horror story about claires...some poorly trained girl got the gun stuck on her ear mid-piercing and then like ripped it off

shit. i have two in each ear and my nose and i totally didn't know that about the gun and having the piercing room sealed off and stuff. i got my ears pierced the first time at Limited Too when i was in 4th grade and the The Icing like my freshman year of high school the second time. luckily i actually got my nose done at an actual legit place.

depending on where you go to get the piercing done like, your first pair of earrings will be basic ones.
thats how it is here anyway.
