Gods and Monsters. Ian McKellan was remarkable in this, and it was very sad.

Memento, because I have just got through studying it for a month and writting lengthy essays on it and I have come to the conclusion that it is absolute genius

Little Miss Sunshine
I second this. I thought Dano and Carell were great in it.

I went with Little Miss Sunshine..I really enjoyed that movie.

Lost In Translation. Went with that because its really the only film on the list that actually did something different. It shunned most conventions, both narratively and technologically (Whether or not you liked the outcome doesn't matter) and Bill Murray's performance was inspired.

I'm surprised there's not a 100 votes for Juno. :-/

There will be, once the young ones flood.

out of those, Memento...I'd say Juno, for me, finishes at best 8th of those 10

Sideways came close for me though...I love that movie.

It was between Memento and Little Miss Sunshine, I had to go with Memento.

Thought there would be at least a few votes for Brokeback Mountain. I can't decide.

Yeah...I almost went with it to give it votes...but, its basically Memento, Sideways, Little Miss Sunshine and Brokeback for me from that list...those are the ones that really stood out to me

I went with Momento because I love the neo-noir feel of it. It was hard to decide between Lost in Translation and that though.

I can't explain it either but soon after I've noticed a lot Kimya Dawson songs on Myspace profiles. I also wanted to shoot myself because I thought the soundtrack was god awful imo.

My opinion on Juno:

Juno was the most underrated overrated film of 2007. It makes me kind of sad how few people actually got what a brilliant film it was.

That being said, I voted for Lost in Translation. In my top 5 of all time.

And if I could get suggestions for poll options for tomorrow's poll (Best neo-noir) that would be great. Obviously Memento, Brick, etc. What do people think of Chinatown being on there? Some people have told me it was the last true film noir, while others have told me it was the first true neo-noir. Opinions?

It's gotta be neo-noir. I would also include Le Samourai, The Naked Kiss, maybe The Conversation?

So sad that The Conversation came out the same year as The Godfather Part II. It would've been Best Picture any other year.

Memento for sure, but Little Miss Sunshine wasnt very far behind.

I like that idea. The list could get huge. And you gotta include Blue Velvet.

You know it was nominated for 3 academy awards (with 1 win), and has grossed over 200 million, right?

Definitely neo-noir. True film noir ended in the late fifties, and probably died with the invention of technicolour.

Very few true noir films include color.

It also seems to be hated by almost everyone I talk to.
