Im Going to San Diego, I've never been so im kind of excited, and will hopefully get tickets to the Rose and Holiday Bowls. I was gonna go check out a Hearts To Handguns show but I don't really have a way of getting there, so that may not be possible.

If your staying home or traveling to the Southwest Area (of America) you should try to check out this band called Letter Twelve (http://www.lettertwelve.com) there local (to me atleast; Ft. Worth, Texas area), the guys in the band are all really cool guys (nice to everyone), plus there nothing short of an incredible band. You woun't be disappointed if you end up going and checking them out, there (mini-)tour dates are:

12.27.03 - Taylor Hill Publishing (Abilene, Texas)
- (w/ They Came Burning (http://www.theycameburning.com))
12.28.03 - Surge's Bar (El Paso, Texas)
- (w/ They Came Burning (http://www.theycameburning.com))
12.31.03 - The Compound (Mesa, Arizona)
1.1.04 - Albee Square (Salt Lake City, Utah)
1.2.04 - Grandpa's Music Box (Denver, Colorado)
- (w/ Fear Before The March Of Flames (http://www.marchofflames.com), Fallen Stars Forgotten (http://www.fallenstarsforgotten.com), Evanstar (http:///www.evanstarmusic.com), and Lenroe; this is a huge show!!!!!! plus its only $5!!!!!!!)

Go to my town's street party, watch my mates band play there, then go enjoy myself at a mates house under the influence of alcohol.

does anyone here NOT drink and have fun at the same time--or is it just me?

it's just like any other night.
except that we get to yell down the street and not have people yell at us.
Something fun with friends, alcohol, and nothing but time to waste.

Just as long as i don't have to stay in with the parentals and watch the ball drop, anything sounds fine.

^^ Self-Righteous straight edge people piss me off. It's not like anyone is bugging you....especially on this FORUM where you don't even know anyone in person. Being straight edge is what you believe in, you have no right pressing your beliefs on other people.

i agree, if people want to drink, let them..as long as they are safe about it and not driving, I could care less. I drink..but Im not stupid. If you dont drink, thats fantastic..but dont put others down for doing it...im not putting u down for NOT drinking. but anyways..yeah I hate new years, cuse everyone is always like oh come to this party, and this one and this one. too much pressure for me. im going to try to just stay one place this year, but I always say that, and usually i end up going to like 4 different places. so hopefully my boyfriend has a party to go to so I can go with him..or he will come to my friends party and we can stay there. whatever....

i'm straight edge? haha. being straight edge is what you believe in, not a label to place upon someone, even yourself. being said, that makes your statement above contradictory. they are called morals, by the way. no one is pressuring their beliefs on anyone either. after all, it's just friendly conversation right? i believe that it is. if you dont, then dont pressure me on how you dont think it isnt. rock on.

Let's go through this, step by step. The post was 'What are you doing for New Years?' or something along those lines, so I replied to the question with the truth, that of which I am going to be consuming alcohol in large measures throughout a certain amount of time, and eventually it will effect me in a way in which I will become very out of control and/or eventually pass out halfway through the night.

It's okay you want us drunks to throw up, choke and die, because it humours us, because we aren't fucking stupid. My friends and I would not allow each other to pass out in a position where puke could possibly enter the throat and choke one to death.

I'm not stupid with my drinking. I have never and will never drive when I'm drunk. I won't allow anybody to take advantage of me, I never put my drink down or allow somebody to mix it for me. I just have a good time.

All that has already been said, meh.

i agree, if people want to drink, let them..as long as they are safe about it and not driving, I could care less. I drink..but Im not stupid. If you dont drink, thats fantastic..but dont put others down for doing it...im not putting u down for NOT drinking. You rule.

My long-distance girlfriend will be in-town for a few days starting on New Years Eve, so she and I will be having a romantic New Years, and we will probably be drinking lots and lots of soda that night.

well said. I'm not straightedge either, it's just the people who are all "man, I'm so getting wasted tonight" sicken me. I know what I said was NOT friendly, I should've directed my comment 100 percent at takingbackrufio. Drinking in moderation is fine, I just don't like him, and he clearly said "I'm drinking. A lot" and ya, as I said before, that irks me. If having a good time means drinking, then that's honestly your loss but, knock yourselves out.

The difference: I did nothing to put you down before your previous statement. In fact, I am totally impressed with people who are able to be strong willed. I respect everything you stand for.

That said, you told me, LITERALLY, that you wanted me to die...for drinking. I'm sorry I'm not you. It's not that I can't have a fun time without drinking (in fact, in the past 2 months I've drank once...and, mind you, I'm in college where drinking goes on all the time). There is no need to judge someone in a negative way just because he or she doesn't have the same beliefs as you.

I'm not sure yet. Maybe going to a friends house or staying home; it really doesn't matter.

See, I'm the type of person that really doesn't too worked up over new years. I could sit at home and be just fine.

it's not so much that he's drinking. He wished death upon me a week ago, I'm just returning the favor...I'm just glad, I hope this drinking catches up to him and he becomes a raging alcoholic who beats his wife who ends up shooting him the face. Yes, this is a step beyond hatred, and ya, I hold grudges. oh well.

That DOES sound like a pretty sweet show.

Here's my stance on drinking. I believe that drinking to get drunk (at parties, for instance) is stupid and vile and about the lowest that a human being can be. You lose your judgement and become unaccountable for your own actions, and often you don't even remember what you did. However, I find social drinking (wine with your dinner, for instance) is perfectly acceptable.

However, personally I don't drink AT ALL.

Except soda.
