I believe their first EP was released in 2001... They are amazing, and you should definitley invest in one or more of their albums... Just ask Alex (Peddster ) He's the official Thrice spokesman!! lol...

Yes, go buy the Thrice CD, and then see them live. But, Jaycougar, find more out about music for yourself instead of asking us. Really, you make a new thread everyday, and its kind of unnecessary.

What are u talking about? how am I going to find out about someone without asking? and this is the first time I have ever asked about a band. The only other time I have asked anything like this it was what is your most emotional song. I love to find new music and I wouldnt like to invest my money into a cd that SUCKS. therefore asking a FORUM<-------- where other that may have listened or heared the album before would be a benifit and it would therefore slice my time in half by trying to find info about a band or any info I am searching for. ARGO VISA VI....... There hasnt been a law passed by congress to keep anyone from posting what they want so untill that day I will continue to ask other what are there thoughts on albums and songs if and when I want to. thank you.

Youve got attitude, I like that.
But dude, when your experimenting with new music, it feels soo much better to find a new band all on your own. I know it sounds lame and teenagerish, but you come to think of that band as your own. Just go out there and find new stuff, then come back and tell us about it. Ive found that its better not to even ask about bands on here, because you get people who love them, and people who claim they are the shittiest band in the world, so youre left back at square one. Trust me on this. But why are you posting? Shouldnt you be out buying some Thrice CDs?

ps. Paper Tigers is by far the best song on The Artist in the Ambulance, followed by Cold Cash and Colder Hearts.

I do go out and find the shit I like but I was very confused about thrice. Everyone one these boards seemed to be fans so I asked.. I appreicate what u have to say. I did go get it already and it fucking rocks. I will have to listen to it alittle more to see if I really really like it. Yea u have alot of attitude yourself.

My friend, you have been deprived of the most beautiful music...go check them out. :)

The new cd is incredible although i must say i do prefer the illusion of safety cuz it had one element thats missing on TAITA(the artist in the...), chaos.

best songs on the TAITA: the abolition of man, stare at the sun, under a killing moon

hell theyre all good.

haha, that sounds kinda funny. Anyway, ya I have heard of thrice, I know everyone loves them, except me. But, my friend keeps on nudging me to get into them cause he's all "thrice woo!". I have listened to deadbolt. Musically, just, amazing. I've only seen sick guitar lines like that done in some very few speed metal bands. Drums, bass, and vocals are eh in my opinion. But the guitar easily makes up for the lack of the rest. Also, lyrically, I just don't get it. I mean, I don't enjoy having to read between the lines all the time (I hate doing it all the time in AP literature, why would I wanna do it on my free time). Anywho, give me some good tracks off of either album that I may enjoy, maybe it'll change my opinion on them.

it saddens me to hear that you have never heard of thrice...oh well. definately go check out all of their cds, especially the illusion of safety. the stuff on the artist in the ambulance is great too, but not as good as the illusion of safety. nothing bad about them at all, they kick ass...the end

thrice owns me

finally got "the illusion of safety" and "the artist in the ambulance"
heh...the artist in the ambulance is the one i've never heard before...

why do so many people say that the new album isnt that good? i was gonna believe it but i still dont think that its as good as "the illusion of safety"...its just something that that one has that the artist in the ambulance doesnt

ah well...this thread has been kind of quiet...

The only flaw in the new album is that the band effectively straitjacketed itself by adhering to the conventional verse/chorus/verse/chorus song structures, whereas as their sophomore release allowed more flexibility. Also, it seems like Teppei ahs scaled back on his virtuoso playing style for the new effort. Despite these facts, the band plays much tighter and cohesively on the new album, complete with rythym driven breakdowns and weaving guitars, and the lyrics are of the same brilliance we have all come to expcet from Kensrue. Vocally, Kensrue has improved by lightyears, one listen of the title track "The Artist in the Ambulance" will confirm that.

If you have yet to hear this band, I reccomend the follwoing tracks

From Illusion of Safety

"Deadbolt"
"So Strange that I Remember You"
"The Read Death"
"The Beltsville Cruciblie"
"Trust"

From The Artist on the Ambulance

"The Artist in the Ambulance"
"Hoods on Peregrine"
"Cold Cash and Colder Hearts"
"The Abolition of Man"
"Silhoutte"

Thrice are pretty awesome. I own a few of their albums, but 'The Artist In the Ambulance' is definitely my favourite one.

I don't have a favorite Thrice album; I feel that the last two releases compliment each other nicely. They have their own strengths and weaknesses, and together, they are invaluable to any rock fans collection.

They became a band in 1998, First Impressions EP was released short after then they signed to Sub City and released Identity Crisis in 99 which is their best.....

Stare At The Sun = their worst song

So you should really like them, checkout "To Awake and Avenge The Dead" and "Phoenix Ignition"

Thrice are absolutely flawless, I can't find one single fault in anything they've done. Musicianship of the highest standard, lyrics are optimistic without being escapist or unrealistic, something anyone can relate to, all wrapped into stunning, heart-wrenching melodies. This band are a music fan's wet dream. An absolute essential live experience too.

Don Socrates, I like your style
