CHIODOS (not in order)
Baby you wouldn't last a minute on the creek
the word "best friend"
we're gonna have us a champagne jam
no hardcore dancing (encore)
to trixie and reptile
is it progression
undertakers thirst for revenge
lexington
bulls make money
letter from janelle
teeth the size of piano keys
there's no penguins in alaska
that should be just about it. i thought the color fred was super generic, from first to last was decent and had good energy but it isn't the same without sonny, mxpx sounded like generic pop punk, chiodos was about the same as the past few tours, set could have been a little longer (they were scheduled to go until 11:30 but were done by 11:10

agreed, and I can't believe he said that mxpx sounded like generic pop punk. funny stuff. Chiodos sounds just as generic in their genre of music(if you want to call what they play music that is)

i don't even like mxpx, but god damn. you are a fucking moron for calling them generic. they haven't been around for over 10 years with 10+ records or anything. jesus christ.

When i saw them in october they played 16 songs. It was an impressive show.
MXPX is talented popular band, but i really don't like them or their christian beliefs. I stongly believe that music and religion should be 100% separate.
With that being said, how was protest the hero, and I wish chiodos would play all nereids beware

you don't like them or their christian beliefs? what in the fuck are you talking about? they don't go around preaching to the crowd..... and out of their 100+ songs in their catalog, maybe 5 of them have christian references in them. Either you don't know anything about mxpx or you are in fact, an idiot.
Now you like chiodos....and I don't know if you like the devil wears prada or not, but I've noticed that almost everyone on here that posts about chiodos likes TDWP as well. Now TDWP is a band that goes around preaching about jesus and have a million references to it in their songs. So basically, you shouldn't like TDWP, Underoath, Haste The Day, or any bands like that or anyone on Tooth and Nail/solid state records since they have christian beliefs. You my friend, sound like a complete douche. congratulations.

I don't know why Chiodos always plays "No hardcore Dancing" I think "All Nereids Beware" should definitly replace that one. I'm glad to see they brought back "Teeth" and got rid of "If I Cut My Hair"

I do hate all of those bands. And congratulations on making my point. I'm not insulting the band, they do have great talent. I just greatly believe that ANY religion should not be mixed with popular music.
And i HATE TDWP more than almost any other band today.

we'll get right on that just as soon as we fully separate church and state
i'd rather hear the occasional preachy song than an endless chain of breakup songs some bands put out. (not stating that this is MXPX since i'm not a fan)

You're an idiot. Without religion and music, we wouldn't have:
1) Illinois - Sufjan Stevens
2) Neon Bible - Arcade Fire
3) Hello, Dear Wind - Page Frace
4) Little Earthquakes - Tori Amos
5) [A→B] Life - mewithoutYou
Five phenomenal albums, that handled and discussed religion in diverse ways, that established or re-defined the genres they were in. You're a fucking idiot if you think music and religion should be separated. Go fucking be straight-edge, and get in a coma, and die.

just because a band has been around a while doesn't make them good
mxpx's onstage presence was literally laughable, i couldn't believe all the lame shit they did
and their music simply requires no real talent

no way. i'm not a christian or religous one bit, but i have great respect for bands that go out there everyday promoting good nature and there beliefs, and if he can't see it, too bad.

seriously, you are trying to say that a 6 piece band that has layered music requires less talent than a 3 piece pop punk band with simple and generic song structure?

Such wonderful albums, especially Neon Bible. I really need to check out Sufjan Stevens soon, I don't know why I haven't. And Chido is a complete idiot, I can't believe what I read when I went through this thread. Now do you think he appreciates or has even heard any of those five albums listed? Better questions: Does he deserve to after a comment like that?
Religion and music together, in my opinion, is bullshit. All religion is bullshit. I don't give a fuck if you like it, or if the bands like doing it. I don't get why this thread has turned into a flamefest on me. I don't like religious music. Are most of you so fucking num skulled that you don't realize that people can have different opinions on music?
I don't like mxpx. Wow. Big Deal. Go fucking flame some fall out boy fan.
And actalano is completely correct.

Your the num skull for making such a dumb comment. Religion has and always will be a big part of music. Wether or not it's pro, anti, or just some ones struggle with their belifes and even commentray on religion. Religion has a place in music very much and it always has. Most bands that talk about religion (that aren't metal/hardcore bands on Solid State) aren't preaching a do you have about it. Get the fuck over it and grow up. Seriously do you even have any idea why you are anti-religion or did it just sound really good to you to be like that one day?

personally, i have no problem with religion in music. there are plenty of bands i like that i don't necessarily agree with and it hasn't stopped me from listening to them. i think it helps to be able to relate with the music you listen to, but i don't think you should only like bands you can agree with. yes, i do sometimes get annoyed when a band preaches almost as much as they play, but as long as they continue to put out music, i don't see why it matters.
lately, i've been starting to like way more christian bands, and being jewish doesn't affect my opinion on any of them, even when they do preach. if bands are singing about or including their beliefs in songs, and they sound good, i think they should keep on doing it
I'm not saying anything about them stopping, or even that I won't like their music. I am just saying I am not into music like that.

I don't understand your opinion. Music is about expressing ones passions. Be it love, anger, lust, sex, religion, humor, etc. Some of the best art ever created were inspired by religion (whether it was for or against). I'm sure if you weren't informed that MxPx had some Christian influence you wouldn't have even noticed. As for Chiodos, they are riding a dying trend and, while I respect their attempt to have SOME sort of depth in their last release, their music will be pigenholed as being from that whole "00's MySpacecore" era.

I went to a show with the same list and protest the hero.
Protest the hero played first and in my opinion could have been better. They played a short set, 20-30 minutes and weren't all that great.
The Color Fred was next and were pretty sucky live as well even though I love them on my Ipod.
MXPX played a kickass show, regardless of my opinion on their music.
Chiodos played an even better show and even if you don't like Chiodos most would still have a fun time. The whole crowd was moving and the pit was huge. They play a good set.
On the subject of religion, you shouldn't let it affect who you listen to because I'm sure religion inspires a lot of artists even if they don't make it apparent.

anyone know mxpx's set?
I saw Chiodos + Protest + TFOT in Vancouver on the 11th of April and the entire show was amazing.
I was sad that Chiodos didn't play Intensity in Ten Cities. I'm such a sucker for that song.
But they played the longest set of the night, and it was great. Some guys at the front were telling Craig to get off the stage, so he played some extra songs just for them. hahah
