View Full Version : Bands in this scene not writing their own music?

I was listening to the altpress podcast and the guy that owns Drive-thru said that he knows of at least 6 major bands in the scene that aren't writing their own music. Maybe im naive, but i never heard of this happening. I understand pop bands like good charlotte or simple plan doing this, but i didn't think that bands in this scene would. Have anyone else heard of this?

as much as i hate to admit it lots of bands in "this scene" (which, though not mainstream, isnt as underground as you think it is) are not much less poppy. especially if we're talking about, say, this huge influx of powerpop since fall out boy and panic at the disco blew up, i wouldnt be surprised to hear that they really dont write their own music.

even if they did write their own music that wouldnt make it any more respectable, its a shame for them to write music like that... hahaha

no but seriously i hope they do write their own its messed up if they dont. i shouldnt rip on other bands because for all i know my band might be just as bad.

Exactly what I was thinking, haha. If you're going to have someone else write your songs, at least have them write decent songs. It's horrible that they couldn't come up with that stuff themselves.
