Dumbass.

The only thing that matters is games and XBOX360 slaughters the PS3 in that respect. Xbox's don't break anymore and even if you have an old one they'll give you another free.

ROFL.

Games aren't the only thing that matter...and if they were, Ps3 would win in the long run anway, seeing as the Ps3 can handle the biggest and highest quality games.

360's do break still...I just bought a new one 6 days ago...and the other day I got a system error.

And the 360 doesn't even have that many exclusives that are really that good o the point where you can't miss out on them.

The only exlusives worthwile are Halo3, and Bioshock. Gears is meh.

The Ps3's exlusives are a lot more diverse to...with Uncharted: Drakes Fortune, Gran Turismo 5: Prologue (Probably thy best looking game to this day, excluding Crysis). Ratchet and Clank...and then with Resistance 2 coming later...

Xbox has better games and really the main thing that matters to me and that is the online play. Ps3 online sucks. I used to be a Sony fanboy but the 360 crushes PS3

Brokenhill
04/22/08, 12:53 PM
No. Ability to handle games doesn't mean they will come out and game quality is not synonemous with technological advancement. The N64 is still way better than both consoles and it has vastly inferior hardware. Games are pretty much the only thing that matters.

PS3's are shit right now. Resistance is a shitty Halo rip off and PS3's offer nothing else. Xbox has Halo and Gears two of the three shooters that matter. With COD being on both. Moreover the Xbox online network is infinitely superior. Xbox also has Bioshock the best RPG out right now.

I just listed 3 amazing Ps3 exclusives...and as time goes on they will only get better...

Game developers are already complaining about the 360's limitations. The potential the Ps3 has for games will be shown in the future. You can look at any console, and looks at the launch titles, and then look at some of the games from the end of it's era...and the ending games will be much better.

You're an idiot. The question isn't guess which console is going to be better. It is right now which is better and the answer by far is the 360. Cheaper, better online play and better games.

I'm so happy you are making all these points so I don't have to argue haha. Lunch is right. I had to send my xbox in twice and I'd still buy a 360 over a PS3.

Xbox 360 ELITE is where its at!

i know the PS3's main argument is that its got greater potential and could be awesome in a years time. well, if the PS3 is this great system in a years time, ill buy a PS3 then. its not like its impossible to own both. but for right now, Xbox 360 has a better online service, a vastly superior catalogue of exclusive games, and several multi platform games e.g. The Orange Box have been scored higher by reviewers than the PS3 versions. plus Xbox 360 hardware and games are cheaper, development time is shorter and cheaper for developers, and i dont give a flying fuck about Blu Ray. i was a hardcore Nintendo guy a year ago. now i fly the green flag of Microsoft's Xbox

The Ps3 is still better, right now. The Xbox 360 is more expensive once you tack on things like Online service and a controller charge cord...(which the Ps3 comes with).

And the games thing is an opinion, besides the fact that this poll is about the 360 vs the PS3, which refers to the consoles...this isn't a thread about which console's games are better.

I must say that without the Super Nintendo, PS2, N64, and even Sega Dreamcast neither of these systems would be out today anyways, and for all those systems having released the games they did when they did I still find it amazing.

But as for now, Ive had both a PS3 and a 360. And within 4 days of having a PS3 I sold it to a friend, I even bought "Resistance", and I had the off road driving game that came with it. But the limitations of both games were absolutely horrible to the utmost. Resistance is like a horrible version of Halo, and although I dont even like Halo (Im straight up COD all the way), Resistance was just pointless to me, I played it for maybe 25 minutes and was annoyed with it. The only thing I really enjoyed about the PS3 in general was the free internet, thats it though. It's way too overpriced to do so little, its massively heavy, and the games choice for it as absolutely horrible. When I got it there would always only be 1 shelf at every store for PS3 games, because the PS3 is designed for much higher technology, but the thing is, the majority of gamers these days are still back in the day of PS2 and just now moving into PS3, but the gaming technology for it all wont catch up decently until a good 5 or 10 years from now.

And the 360 is just awesome in my opinion. Yeah, you have to pay for xbox live, but I beat every mode in COD4 back in December and I still play it online like everyday cause it keeps me that interested, not to mention basically every single game for the system has live on it so even after you beat it, you can continue on. The only real thing PS3 has on the 360 is the blu-ray player, but honestly, I could give a shit less about higher quality movies. The majority of the movies I really enjoy that should be in blu-ray will probably never be released in blu-ray anyways.

So I used to be strictly Sony with the PS2, then I bought the 360, and it was over.

And oh yeah, Ive had my 360 since last September of 2007 and I still havent had to send it in at all, it is the Elite version though.

360 easily. Regardless of the power of the PS3 or the system's potential, it's still no question because, like lunchforthesky said, it's about the games. The games determine the quality of the system and 360 obliterates PS3 in that regard.

I have owned both a 360 and a PS3. I sold my 360 because it was a piece of terribly designed crap. It is a loud as a broken fan, heats up way too hot, has a giant power brick, requires money for internet access, and has a poor track record for breaking down. My PS3 is the most complete and satisfying game console I have ever owned.

The vast majority of 360 games I'm interested in are multi-platform, and PS3 has some exclusive titles, though not yet out yet, that I am very excited about. I just don't enjoy my gaming experience as much on xbox, right down to the controller. What xbox has to offer in it's online capabilites doesn't make up for the cons for me, and PS3 meets my needs in that regard just fine.

Nintendo still owns my gaming heart, but PS3 between these two.

Well your demands are a little high...

Both consoles already had a $100 cut. Any more of a cut without changing the hardware would most likely mean the company losing money.

Besides, what you pay for the consoles is worth it.

Also, the arcade version has only internal storage, so it doesn't have that external/removable HD on top. So making that version a 40g would be kind of pointless, seeing as if it were to remain having an interal HD, the console (I assume) would have to be a little bit bigger.

I do know that in the future Sony plans to make another slight price drop...but that's because IBM is in the process of slightly decreasing the size of the PS3's chip.

So wanting a 40g the way it is now with backwards compatability would raise the price...

I say just save up, and go out and buy one for now...get some of the exclusives for it that you want. Then later on down the road after saving up a little here and there, buy the other one...
That's what i'm doing.

I do realize that they would be losing money but I know that Sony was in the first place with the release of the PS3, but I don't know if that is still the case. I believe they ran on the philosophy that they could make the money back with title sales and peripherals.

As for the arcade, I wasn't necessarily talking about the actual model but the specs. I think the only thing it lacks is that hard drive and these days, a 40GB would hardly raise the price at all... it would probably take the price up to that $299 price tag that I called for.

Personally, I'll just continue to use my Wii until that price tag is reached. Plus, as fun as it is for a college student to engross himself/herself in video games these days, it can be extremely detrimental their grades :-/

So you want an Xbox 360, with a 40g external HD, that doesn't come with a HDMI digital AV cable, doesn't come with a network cable, doesn't come with a headset, and doesn't have backwards compatiabilty for $300?

They won't make a console with those specs...but if they did, it would probably run at $310 or $315

I own an HDMI cable and I don't need a headset. I didn't realize that the xbox 360 doesn't come with WiFi support built in nor did I realize the arcade was not backwards compatible (that would be a problem for the Halo series). Again, I'll just wait till they revise both the PS3 and xbox 360, whether that is tomorrow or 2 years from now... gives me time to pay off my credit card bills. Eventually they will consolidate to 1 version of each for logistical reasons. It would be interesting if you could custom order these consoles with the features you wanted, granted it would boost the price, you wouldn't be paying for unnecessary items.

Which console do you prefer?

I own a 360, and enjoy it...but I realize the Ps3 is a much better overall console.
