The movie. I forget what happened but there was this Danny kid who thought his dad hated him, and then he is talking to Splinter, and Splinter says all fathers care for their sons... and of course he was right, the father was just caught up in work and all that and his son was a punk rocker and they didn't really relate but eventually they run into each other's arms...
IT'S DEEP.

haha the movie that came out last year? i don't even remember that.
but that's "all fathers care for their sons". trust me, i'm well aware of how much my dad LOVES my brother. such a great hardworking varsity soccer player and now he's on the baseball team too.. how could he not? i get it everyday.

04/20/08, 11:55 PM
Nah the original.
And I'm sure he loves you as well, he just might not know how to relate to you. My dad had like nothing to say to me before I joined cross country and track, then suddenly we're best friends, then I quit and nothing again, now I jog for exercise so we talk about that again. It's not that he didn't like me in between, he just has a few limited topics of experience (he's a big runner) and doesn't know hot to talk about much else.

funny story. all i really wanted was to use this new workout video i got the other day that i got the other day and was really excited about.
my brother was playing assassin's creed all morning and i didn't even bug him or ask him to get off. i waited until he did. and then i was gonna use his old playstation since my sister broke the dvd player in our playroom. my brother comes back and gets pissed i'm using his old PS2 even though he doesnt even use it since he has a PS3 in his bedroom and an xbox360 so he tells my parents on me for using it.
this causes them to come upstairs and yell at me and tell me how much they hate me and how they're kicking me out this summer.

oh, but they've threatened me out a bunch. this is different than what they've said before. they were different about it.. like specific and they're like you can go to community college down in southern california and blah blah. and i was like "but i already picked out my classes for here!" talking about fall semester. and they're like as soon as summer school's over you can the hell out, blah blah.
That sucks. My dad kicked me out of the house for a week, but I had an apartment so I just went there, so I guess that's not really getting kicked out. Why are you getting kicked out?
my family and i just don't really mesh well. i've always been like the odd man out. i don't play any sports and sports are seriously like religion in my family and music is really like the thing that i'm pretty passionate about so i kind of stick out. i'm the oldest of four and my brother and sisters all gang up on me which sucks. and my dad and i just don't get along at all, although we hadn't fought for a few weeks. the last time was like when he said "fuck you" to me over something really stupid when we were on vacation.
i actually went to a shrink that worked as a counselor for some church in the fall which sucked and she always talked about how my parents are really negative to me and how they blame everything on me and then as a result of them doing that, my brother and sisters all do too.

They won't kick you out. Trust me. It's actually very, very difficult for parents to kick you out anyway, if you just keep coming back, even if you are of age.
I've been "kicked out" a bunch of times, although I've never actually left.
Every teenager gets threatened like that by their parents. I only know a select few that actually had to leave, but it was for reasons involving drugs, stealing, and the law.
I'd give it a couple days to blow over. Hopefully your parents will forget about it.

Do you have a place to go if they do kick you out?
When my mom kicks me out, she usually ends up crying 3 hours later about how she doesn't mean it, and that I have no where to go and that she couldn't have her "little baby" on the streets.

You're 18, get over it. Saying you hate your parents because they have legal rights to send you on your way and be responsible for yourself is moronic. You seem too immature already to be able to care for yourself, but it's not like they're kicking you out of their lives - they are parents, it's their job and their responsibility to get you to get your shit together by 18.
Honestly, if this is the worst thing life has to give you, you've got it easy. Stop whining and accept the fact that you are an adult.

haha no. i'm actually a really good kid, no lie. it kind of sickens me to be honest. i can count the total number of times i've been drunk on two hands which is slightly pathetic. and here i am in my freshman year of college and the i've drank twice this entire school year... once was new years and the other was one sad little beer at the ozzy osbourne concert and my parents friend who gave my friend and i the tickets for free bought it for me and told me not to tell them. haha lame, right? as for drugs, the only thing i've ever smoked in my life was hookah once, which doesn't even count haha.

It's pathetic that you don't get drunk more? Huh. I don't quite follow that logic.
But really, there was a certain point where my mom would threaten to kick me out for the 8 billionth time for some silly little thing (and I can count the times I've been drunk on ONE hand) and I'd just say "well, I'm not leaving regardless" and that was that.

compared to most kids my age that i know and a lot who are younger, probably yes. but i dunno.. i'd just rather not, especially with a bunch of random kids i don't give a crap about or know that well. i've only been drunk with my little group from high school and that's totally fine with me.
i'll keep the "well, i'm not leaving regardless" in mind.

to be honest, the thought of not living with them is one i love and i do want to transfer to four year far away and live far away after that. but at the moment, much as my family sucks and they make my life suck, i'm willing to put up with it for atleast another year to not have to spend the money. i wasn't planning on being able to move out yet and money-wise, i'm not ready. and right now i actually have a schedule picked out for the fall that i think i could be happy with and not drop any classes and a job i love that pays pretty well and some really good friends here.

I didn't actually mean far far far away, necessarily. I did mean just to move the fuck out. It sounds like you have a decent life there, apart from your family. Why don't you move out and get an apartment on your own in the area? If it's just the money, it'll probably be worth it in the long run for your mental stability to get out of there as rapidly as possible.

yeah, i've been debating that all day. my friend wanted to move out of her house and she took me to look at apartments with her a lot back in december, but i just thought it seemed pointless to pay rent and still live so close to here. but it might be worth it. i just wish i could get them to give me more money. and btw, i agree with your whole getting drunk thing haha.

It seems pointless now, but it really isn't. If it is possible, do it. Especially if you wind up living with a friend. And wishing you could get your parent's to give you more money isn't exactly helping your situation, probably.

probably not.. but i'm definitely not asking them for more money at the moment.. but maybe if they talk about kicking me out again, i can like try to bargain with them like "if you give me rent money, you won't have to see me around here anymore" haha.

This is the way to go in your situation. When your parents threaten you with stuff like this, especially if you don't get along, save up and move out. This will give them the "o shit" affect. You keep quiet for a month, just do things as normal, then put your down payment on an apartment and tell them "O by the way June 15th im moving out like you wanted". They will be completely shocked. My parents were being real strict on things, and since I have a real job and was going to "attempt" to save up for a house, they started taking little freedoms away, on top of charging me rent and taking freedoms away. Luckily my best friend just bought a house and had an extra room. He let me move in and my parents were like "o, already?". I don't have it like you, I love my parents; they were just starting to going back to acting like I was 16 again so I saved up a good chunk and left.

A lot of my friends have always seen my dad more as an older brother because of how laid back and cool he is. I'm not embarrassed to hang out with my dad and go to bars with him when I visit haha. He's taught me how to have fun but be responsible for everything I do in the process. His biggest fear was me turning into my cousins. It also helps my dad is still young. If I mess up once in awhile, they automatically forgive me. I don't have to pay for shit if I don't want to (I do anyways once I save up from a job). I respect them so much for everything they have done for me, who they are, and their philosophy about parenting. I have a lot of appreciation for them.

Haha, I got my sister thrown out of the house. Not for something as petty as what your brother did but she'd still be living there if it weren't for me. The best part is I'm not even home 9 months out of the year. yay for being the favorite kid.
Oh an agreed with everyone else, they probably won't throw you out. If they do, well, that really says something about them.
Why did you get your sister thrown out of the house?

Well she was like 23 years old when i got her 'kicked out' and had a well paying job so it was going to happen sooner or later. I just kind of sped up the process because she was a complete bitch.

I can't seem to figure out if Mrs.Sweeney Todd is trying to be an enigma or is just so incredibly stupid at an incomprehensible level, our minds will not allow us to go below a certain point of intelligence to sort it all out.

that they're kicking me out.
i fucking hate them so much.
I moved out at 15...
Its cool at first, then it starts to suck.
Then i moved back.
Then I moved out, then...yea.
I lived with a buddy, but I had to buy my own food and shampoo and all that good stuffs.
Then i moved back like a half year later, than moved out then...blah blah
Its a good experience though, because you'll understand whats it's like to depend on yourself.

yeah, it's sort of convenient because she's been trying to get me to move out with her since before Christmas but i didn't want to pay for a place here when i could live off my parents for free. we even looked at a bunch of places already. i'll probably be better off getting away from my family anyway.
