... Dipset has to be the worst rap collective since ICP and G-unit. Though they do have good producers.

Nas.

After hearing Nas's new song, I've decided that I'm never going to listen to anything new he releases again. HHID was bad enough.. but this new song was bad to the point of angering me.

Illmatic is classic
Lost Tapes and IWW are great albums.
God's Son and Stillmatic were good.
Street Disciple and I Am were mediocre.
HHID was bad.
Nostradamus was terrible.

If his new release is all as bad as the new song, it will be worse than nostradamus even.

Wait. Didn't you just say the only one you like is Illmatic, and the rest you don't like at all? And then you agree that Nas has two other great albums, and two more good ones on top of that? Get the fuck out of here.

When it comes to rap, I listen to a lot of it. Dipset is even fun to listen to once in a while, but the fucking terrible lyrics wear thin. (when I want to listen to bad lyrics but great beats, Lil Wayne and Jeezy are more interestnig than Camron.)

Rappers I currently listen to would be.. Big L, Joe Budden, some talib Kweli (specifically reflection eternal), old mobb deep, old nas, ghostface, etc

Sean Price.

Monkey bars and Jesus Price Superstar were great. I heard he releasaed something after that but haven't bothered getting it yet.

On another note, Ahmad - Back in the Day is such a great track.

He kills it on Jesus Price Superstar. The new one's called Master P. It's gotten pretty bad reviews so I haven't checked it out yet either.

I never really understand why people say on here say Weezy has bad lyrics. Sure, he has times where they're terrible, but there's just as many times where he says some shit that makes me have to take a step back for a second and wonder how he even comes up with it.

To the thread started, if you haven't already, check out Ghostface.

Once in a while weezy will say some shit that actually does mean something, but a lot of the time he's just speaking some bullshit... I'm not going to say he's terrible, because his flow still makes me want to listen to him, but lyrically he's definitely not a great.

Oh, I agree. My point was, within this websites "scene" the kids are always too cool for most hip hop, aside from a few select artists/groups, ATCQ being one of them. I suppose "stop listening to dumb gangsta rap" just made him seem like a ignorant moron to me.

I can see what you are saying. Same way I feel when people write off everything except "gangsta" rap.

Threadstart should listen to Pre-Stankonia outkast and Goodie Mobb (still standing/soul food)

Great band. Love illadelph Halflife and things fall apart especially. Still can't figure out why Black Thought respects Peedi Crack though.

Ever listened to older outkast by any chance?

nah i haven't. i enjoy all the genres that surround rap music, but i've had a really hard time finding any rap i enjoy (besides the roots) in america. most of what i listen to is jamaican ska with toasting or dancehall. but i'll give outkast a crack mate

Make sure it's something that was released before Stankonia though. Stankonia and onward are a lot different (though, actually, you might enjoy that. The older stuff is just more "rap" than anythign else)

Also might want to check out Pharoahe monch. I can link songs if you want.
